Les' idiotic fake field goal, going for a 54 yard field goal when the kicker's career long was 44, that didn't play into it? He took a gamble on the blitz on the last play. As Pearl said when he pressed Florida in 2006: "Half the time it'll work. Half the time it won't. When it does you're a genius, when it doesn't you should've done something different."
I don't think Les is without blame, but letting Bama march down the field with short slants and comebacks while playing 10 yards off of their receivers is simply mind boggling.
Yeah, but Bama deserves some credit for being able to get out of bounds every time. Hard to argue the philosophy when they have 0 timeouts. If any one of those plays ended up in bounds, LSU wins.
