Football is a game that, if you've ever played it you know very well, parallels life in many ways. There are so many things in football as well as in life that are outside of your control. Bad things happen that have a monumental change to your life or, in football, the game/season. Also, just as in life, in football you can make mistakes that can be just as costly as the bad things you have no control over. How you respond to each of these, your own mistakes as well as the things you cannot control, speaks volumes about the kind of person you are. I never played college football, but my days in high school football definitely helped me deal with the many adversities I have faced in my own personal life. Horrible things, but I always kept a 'snap and clear' mentality, to the best of my ability. I always kept moving forward because, to use football as an analogy, when the 'breaks finally went my way', I wanted to be in a position to pick up the fumble and score. I wanted to be there, ready to capitalize and score rather than allow the mistakes I made and the bad things outside of my control cause ME to NOT be in position to be successful when that opportunity finally presented itself.

TL;DR - Coach Jones has instilled a do not quit mentality in each of these players and I cannot tell you how f****** proud of our team I am as well as happy to say Jones is our team's coach. This do not quit mentality will carry over into each of these young men's personal lives and take them far in life if they stay the course. It will percolate down to underclassmen and continue to provide us in the future a team on the field that is known around the country for being gritty and relentless. Team 120 is special and I am damn excited to see how the rest of this season goes.

Quality post, 87. I remain cynical about some coaching decisions, coordinators, and assistant coaches. CBJ has got some magic happening with this team. Love the fight and grit in these young men.

Very well stated OP. I share your view 101%.

I hope that CBJ can continue to instill this mentality for years to come. I think that it was an easy sell with Teams 117, 118, & 119, because of where the program was at the time. I hope that he can continue to get the buy in so success will not go to their heads, with Team 121 and beyond.

I is fun to watch. GBO! Beat Bama!

If this view of Coach Jones prevails and the players and program stay on the straight and narrow over the next few years and they stay at or near the top. CBJ could become a coach that will be though of in the same vain as many revered senior coaches across the country. What I like is the how the players seem to be clean, good guys off the field, and still play good football. Speaks well for the way staff has recruited our young men.
