I know some of you won't like this

He's probably like me, sick of the pointless critism. UT lost today because of poor execution on a few plays NOT play calling. This loss has nothing to do with poor coaching. In fact, the coaches on both sides of the ball should be commended for the way this team competes and never gives up especially with all of the youth and inexperience on this team!

I can't totally agree with that statement. As a rule the play calling improved, but when we go under center on our own goal line for the 1st time all year bone headed comes to mind. Also, execution is a result of coaching. On the goal line fumble it was obviously uncomfortable for Hurd to take the ball while moving forward. It seemed like the ball bounced off his pads. In any case it wasn't a well practiced motion in a critical situation.

All that being said the team is much better and gets fewer penalties than any of the last 5.

We scored 32 points on the road against a top 15 SEC East rival.

We didn't lose because of the two fumbles, as bad as they were.

We lost because they had their best player have his best day. Most would say that you can't have a guy rush for 208 yards and expect to win.

Our offense is not a finished product. We saw glimpses of what it will look like when it is working how it is supposed to in the first and fourth quarters but it disappeared in the second and third. The offensive line played better. They gave Worley time and allowed for some decent runningfor a good portion of the game. They improved from Oklahoma against a slightly less talented front 7 and they will continue to gain experience and improve.
Our offense had some misfires but so did the defense. Our tackling was not good enough to beat a top 25 team. Too many sloppy tackles and arm tackles. We knew that if we stopped Gurley we would win and we failed to stop Gurley.
This is a transition period but we are nearly through it. We should see more offensive production next week and hopefully we will start seeing this team operate as an efficient eps scoring machine.

This might be the most Ignorant, non-informed, most non educated post I have ever seen on this ridiculous website. We had a bye week. Naturally we are going to be toward the end of the pack in stats. And if the op would have bothered to look on the website he gave reference to he would see clear as day the reason we are ranked so bad at the present time. But, as usual he just another kid wanting attention and likes from this "fan" driven site.

I know this team is much improved and it shows, but can someone answer this for me maybe it was there defense setup or whatever but after Worley came back in the game we ran down the field just like the first two times we had the ball. Where was that playcalling the entire game where we couldn't do anything on offense?? It's like Coach Jake was scared to let them roll with it until that point in the game when it the now or never factor. I don't know maybe it was just GA changed thier defense to open that back up

I also think the stats are a little misleading in the fact we have played 2 defenses ranked in the top 40 and all three are very good against the run.

I am to lazy to check but I wonder what the teams that lead the SEC have played.

So in your logic, our stats are misleading unless we are playing weaker opponents?

This is the best coached UT team that I have seen in probably 10 years, the problem on this team is the youth and inexperience not the coaching or talent.

Its just stats

I can't help you don't like facts

It's called playing not to lose

Conservative play calling until you're behind, then you have no choice but to call plays you normally wouldn't run

IIRC, didn't Worley call an audible to change into the handoff on our own goal line that resulted in a fumble? If so, hard to put that one on Bajakian.

Even so, Worley is probably the best QB in the East right now and in the top third of the whole conference.

Most won't disagree about the offense sucking. The debate is whether or not it's because of play calling or complete lack of an offensive line
I think it's a combination of both. Bajakian has his moments where he looks brilliant in his play-calling and others when he's too vanilla and conservative.

The OL getting beat on most every play isn't helping Bajakian's cause, for sure.

No my logic is we have played 4 tough defenses and therefore may be ranked in the bottom of offensive stats and the teams in the top may have played weaker defenses at this point.

My point is let everyone play everyone then compare stats and if that point we are still in the bottom half of offensive stats then the numbers will speak for themselves.

Reply please.

I would agree Georgia's D stats were inflated due to the poor teams they played

Georgia gave up 38 to SC, who lost to Missouri and only scored 20 points( who lost to Indiana)

If this is true, our offense would also have inflated stats

Look at last year. We scored 31 on Georgia.

I think Mahoney is dead wrong for not starting Blair, after Gilliam went down. I mean THEY are the ones who evaluated him and recruited him, and now suddenly he's like 4th string bad? So many other teams wanted Blair, and we aren't even giving him a chance to show what he can do. I don't believe it. Not when you have Coleman Thomas getting beat regularly.

Play Blair at RT, at least, and Weisman at C or RG

100 percent agree. Had some really good moments calling plays but what were we doing to start the 2nd half? Establishing the run when an already not good Georgia secondary lost a starter. Believe we had two 3 and outs after interceptions too.

Not really

You can't ignore that Utah State and Arkansas State play sub par teams, which inflates their d stats

You also can't ignore that we scored 31 last year against Georgia and they gave up 38 to a SC team that scored 20 against a team that gave up 31 points to Indiana

watching the KY-Vandy & USC-Mizzou games were a window into our future opponents strengths and weaknesses. Glad Mizzou is at home, gives us an immense advantage IMO. KY-Vandy did not look good - woo hop

I agree and think our defensive stats may be a inflated due to playing 2 weaker offensive teams. We will start to get a better idea of where every one is in the next few weeks when we get in the heart of the SEC schedule.

And that is what I am saying the only fair stats will be the ones from the SEC games where every one is play close to equal competition.

Thank you

If we played teams like Utah State and Arkansas State the entire year, we would look like an entirely different team
