I had no idea that he was a Top 30 player nationally. I ran across the CBS Sportsline Top 100 for 2003 and Major Wingate was #27. For reference UT signee Jackie Butler was rated #28 and is considering going to the NBA.

I also was surprised how highly Wingate was touted. Apparently Gamecock fans are really pissed that he didn't go to S. Carolina. A friend of mine in Columbia said Wingate really caught some major flack from the crowd in the Carolina Center earlier this year.

I remember watching that game on TV. The fans were really booing Wingate.

You would think that he would have shown a little more by now. Hopefully he can develop into a nice player in time.

I didn't realize he was so highly rated either - he's got the skills and the body - I think he's just a little unsure of himself out there sometimes. I noticed a couple of times last night against KY that he could have taken the ball to the hoop but chose to make a pass instead - commendable, but sometimes you just gotta dunk on those fools!
Now, if he comes along, and we put Butler on the block beside him, we may have an awfully tough front line...
