I hope Kiffin forgets how to get to knoxville. Fulmer would still be the coach, had they choosen a different OC. There is just NO WAY that Kiffin will ever be Tennessee Football.

If you mean the past 10 years of TN Football (0 SECC, 1 BCS Bowl - Loss, .666 winning percentage. inability to beat our biggest rivals), then I hope he never becomes TN Football.

Do I get to call OVOL1280 a newbie?! Because that makes me feel like I'm part of the board, for real!

I feel like we did jump the gun too quickly! I have no doubt in my mind that CPF would've turned things around! I think that once the QB position was established, we'd have been back on top again. And I agree that NO ONE will EVER love UT like Phil! And I will never look at a coach like I looked at CPF!

Why are you so certain. We have not been on top in 10 years despite numerous QB's. We have had 2 losing seasons out of the past 4.

No, I really don't think we made a mistake.

I think Fulmer is still a very good coach. It wouldn't shock me if he took another HC job at another school and won. But something wasn't working at UT anymore, the program had gone stale.

Fulmer wouldn't be getting fired if he had done any one of these things:

1) Realized all his quarterbacks were awful before the season started, and designed his offense accordingly before the season began.

2) Gotten his team to make just one more play against bad UCLA and Auburn teams (the laydown vs. Wyoming then wouldn't have happened because Phil wouldn't have been fired).

3) Not tried to forcefeed (or allow Dave Clawson to forcefeed, as the case may be) a complex offensive system to his players when it was clear they weren't grasping it.

He does any one of those things, and we're probably 8-4 right now, and even with the bad losses to UF and Bama, Phil's not fired and he's getting ready for a bowl, with a strong recruiting class coming in.

That's not the evidence I need! My evidence is a coach with the 3rd highest winning percentage! And the man who brought a NC to Knoxville after 47 years! I will not be convinced otherwise until Kiffin shows me he is the man that will "turn us around"!

He has had 10 years since the NC. How many more years should that NC have bought him?

Well here's my bottom line...I dont want us to end up in a coaching carousel like Bama did! And at least with CPF we KNEW he had the team's best interest at heart! I just don't think that anyone else will care about the players like he does or have that orange blood running through his veins! I love to win like anyone else but I also love to see someone that is a Vol through and through on the sidelines...now if Peyton was our new HC I wouldn't be nearly as worried/nervous/sad! ;)

And you said that you know a lot about Football. Tell us all about what would make Peyton a successful Head Coach?

It's amazing to me that the Fulmer supporters are so vocal after Vandy and Kentucky wins, but were suspiciously quiet after the Wyoming, Florida, Georgia, Cocks etc.... losses...

NOW 5 or even 3 years? come on quit kidding yourself. If things aren't good in 2 years you will be in here crying and complaining like everyone else. AND NO THERE WONT BE ANYONE THAT LOVED THE UNIVERSITY AS MUCH AS COACH FULMER.

Thanks, Vicky...we get it.

Go Vols.

Kiffin will redefine UT football. Thanks to Fulmer, he has a lot of work to do.

Thanks for posting, Vicky.

Go Vols.

The reason i wanted change is because Fulmer never played the best (even if they were freshman)being to loyal to upper classmen, and just plain stubborn and not wanting to mix it up. That old 80's brand of ball died in the 80's.I hope this new fresh of air comes and suprise all the doubters. I won't be suprised if we won the SEC becuase we still have talent and just have to coach em up

What I just saw on my TV was very moving. Do yall think we made a mistake. I know what bama has I know what fla has but I just saw a team behind a coach. Maybe we just needed a little more twiking. A few more players, a little more down the field, I admit I have been harsh too but, did we act to soon on the coaching thing. Man I hope Kiffen or whomever has the nation in mind. Do yall think he is going to care about Tennessee football as much as CPF did? What about it yall?

We have far too many bleeding hearts around here. Did we make a mistake? YES. We definitely made a mistake. We kept Fulmer and company around FAR, FAR TOO LONG!

I don't care if our coach "loves the university" or not. I expect him to be a professional: to excel at his job in return for a very large paycheck. Coaching for love is for pee wee football and youth soccer leagues.

I have to disagree with you on this. Emotion plays a big factor in college football.

A lot of fans consistently criticize that our current players lack passion and love for the university, and it shows on the field.

I will always prefer a coach that "loves his university" over a man who's going through the motion to get a paycheck.

That's been the problem.....it takes a season to make a team. Team should come onto the field in game 1!
