Will he have to sit one year or two? Someone on this board was saying he'd have to sit two years since he left school.

What's the Difference between this and the Tyler Smith transfer? Am I missing something?

I thought both needed to be closer to home because of a sick parent.

Where do you want to start?

1. Warren left in the middle of the school year without a release, Tyler got his release and completed his year.
Without completing the year Warren did not fullfill the LOI requirement and not getting a release from FSU which means sitting for 2 years and paying his way first. Tyler completed his year and fullfilled his LOI requirement, Tyler is filing a hardship on sitting for 1 year while Warren as you just got denied for his release and now has to file with the LOI Committee then if he wins that has to file with the NCAA for immediate eligibility

2. Tyler's father has terminal cancer, Warren's mother does not.

This is really 2 very different situations. Tyler will get his, Warren will not.

NATIONAL LETTER OF INTENT PENALTY PROVISIONS & APPEALS PROCESS
NLI Provision 4 states a student who does not attend the signing institution for at least one academic year (two semesters or three quarters) must serve one academic year in residence and will lose one season of eligibility in all sports upon enrollment at any other NLI member institution.
NLI Provision 5 indicates a student may be completely released from his or her NLI obligation, including the one-year Basic Penalty, with approval from the original signing institution. The institution must indicate its decision of “Complete Release” on the NLI Release Request Form.
NLI Provision 6 explains the NLI Steering Committee will consider appeals for relief from the NLI Basic Penalty when the signing institution denies a student’s request for a “Complete Release.” The Committee will evaluate the extenuating circumstances presented by a petitioning student prior to rendering its decision.

A decision of the NLI Steering Committee may be appealed to the NLI Appeals Committee within 30 days of the date of the Steering Committee’s decision letter. The NLI Appeals Committee’s decision shall be final and binding.
* Please allow 6-8 weeks to complete the appeals process *

After his year in academic residence he then can go on scholarship but he will have to redshirt as a Junior.

If he wins this appeal (50/50) he can enroll at UT on scholarship and then UT can file for immediate elgibility to the NCAA....This is the one he will not win
