and I want to say one thing...Hey Ainge, our guys are the ones in orange!! What a choke job from our senior q.b. After the unbelieveable interception on our final drive, not one Vol player had anything to say to him on the sideline.

Other notes: we definitely were the better team today.
Our defense put some vicious hits on LSU today and the LSU fans around me were fully aware of it.
Our players left it all on the field, except for Ainge. Mayo could barley walk on the sidelines during the 4th quarter because of cramps, but did not miss a play. And Jones is the real deal at q.b. Why we didn't continue to play him there today had alot of fans at the game talking...

Ainge's INT killed a solid effort. I hate to hang it on him, but he was not at his best tonight.

I'm astounded at the level of venom towards Ainge. He didn't do anything to purposefully hurt the Vols.

Honestly, what did Ainge accomplish in his career?

4 years well wasted if you ask me.

I was sitting on the 40 right behind our bench and had a perfect vantage point of the interception run back for a touchdown. The defender did not step in front of our receiver. He was always in front. Ainge looked right at him and there was nothing between Ainge and the defender. A senior q.b. in this type of game should not make that mistake or the one on the last interception. He made similar mistakes last year in Neyland vs. Florida on our last drive. And was terrible in the Outback Bowl. I have been to all 3 of these big games and Ainge was the major reason we lost all 3...and they were big!

Two terrible INTs in the last few minutes of a championship game by a senior QB will elicit a little venom.

The level of hatred is a little over the top, IMO, but there's no question that Ainge's legacy at UT is going to be defined by tonight's game. Some of us are probably more upset than we ought to be because we've spent a couple of years championing the guy, and this is how he goes out. Goodbye.

You are probably right. He has definitely come a long way from that night in Baton Rouge several years ago. Credit Cut with that. But, I believe his legacy will be that he was not a big-game quarterback and that is sad.

It's not venom. Just disappointment. And he was not as sharp as he has been at other times. In all fairness, there were a number of dropped passes as well.

Did Lucas Taylor get injured and I didnt hear anything about it? He was non-exsistent after the opening drive....

You cannot throw that pick-six when you're a senior. Period. If he's going to throw the ball away as much as he does to avoid the hit -- and the fact that he's only been sacked three times all year has to be chalked up to Ainge's skittishness as much as our offensive line -- then you have to figure that he knows how to throw the ball away. An INT for six the other way down in that part of the field is beyond unacceptable.

I liked Ainge, and I've defended him vociferously at times. But at this point I'm ready to just move on to whoever's next. Crompton may suck, but at least he'll play courageously.

I completely agree and have made similar comments. There's no excuse.

those seats must have been behind a prism or something, because the defender did break on the ball when Hancock cut. Hancock just quit on the ball and the defender stepped in front and took the ball to the house

How were we the better team? They had better stats and scored more points. And they played down to our level with back ups.

I'm not, he threw some costly interceptions that were instrumental in LSU winning.

What I am surprised at is people think he is the ONLY one that underperformed on offense. It was a group effort on the offensive side of the ball in terms of underperforming.

I feel bad for Ainge. Im sure no one feels worse than he does. Our passing game was too dependent on Ainge all year. (strange as it sounds as he is QB) Wish we had a Meachem for this game. Youngsters are getting better, but no real playmaking threats at WR.

Yesterday's passing plan is a byproduct of a season playing with less talented WRs.

As for the 4th Q choke -- unfortunately that is what happened. :frown:

I agree. We need a more mobile qb if phil is going to play a arian foster at running back and get a fullback also. To dependant on a short passing game against speedy defenders never hardly works out well. Its a pattern and a flaw in our offense. All the teams we struggled against had very good corners that weren't fooled by short quick routes.

If we bet everything on 4th down with a pass, bad things would happen, no matter how well the play was called and executed.

If you're talking about the 4th down pass at the end... that play call was hideous. They ran the exact same play on the exact same defense that they ran on the 3rd down that didnt work.
