Two games in and the fanbase is already having a meltdown... some calling for Butch's head, or DeBord's. Some so superstitious to think losing for a second time while checkering Neyland might play a part in losing and we should never do it again. Some blame the players and are literally cussing out 18-22 year old kids...as if their loss or failure makes you a failure as a person. The meltdown is so crazy that the VN fan forum crashed after the game with half of you venting and the other half trying to work damage control, all just to end up arguing with each other.

Honestly I couldn't take it any more. I had to step away. It became the very BS drama I (and many others) hope to escape from the rest of the world.

Guys, it's a football game. Can we take a deep breath and realize all this fuss is over a game?...played mostly by boys that aren't even old enough to drink...

In church today we discussed identifying idols of worship in our life, and how an idol is something that we often place our own value in. And for years I have placed my value in UT Football. When the team lost, I felt like I lost. My entire week was going to be crappy until we played again (and won). The team’s failure to win made me feel like I was a failure. And anyone talking trash about UT losing made me much angrier than a simple game should. Vol Nation, let's not take something awesome and fun and turn it into the thing we worship.

I know most of you will just think I'm crazy or call it "being competitive" which I get. But the truth is, many of us worship this game and this football program. And that's exhausting because it will never give us the satisfaction we desire. Losses will always happen and sold out crowds will still get silenced. Some of you might even be offended by this stuff, and that's fine. But it might be an indicator that you are the ones I'm talking about. I for one am ready to quit worshiping UT and get back to just being a fan who enjoys the game. I invite you all to do the same. And if you want to go even further I will be glad to point you in the direction of something else truly worth our worship.

Think I'll pass on the offer. Religion and football, like religion and politics, do not mix well. God would not wish this really bad coaching on us.

As upset as I was over the loss. It's one loss in a long season.

This. The loss yesterday was disappointing but there are many games to be played. Last year we went to Norman and got flat out embarrassed and many fans on this board were impressed by the teams effort. This year we should have won if we just Make a couple more plays. OU is a quality opponent and their squad was tougher down the stretch. We can blame Dobbs, o line play, play calling etc. but the truth is OU is a better team than the vols. On a positive note, this team has improved and will learn from this loss. GBO!

A win in the swamp care cure all that ails the Volnation right now. Butch needs to coach the game of his life in two weeks.

It was an upsetting loss, but as you have said, it's one game in a long season. Honestly, I had a much nicer, calmer day not reading all the nonsense people tend to post on here after a loss.
