I hope we can shut up SEC fans this year!

Iam on the forum for SEC fans and one person asked how everyone thought Kiffin was going to do this year and mostly everyone gives us no chance at all for a winning season and even a SC fan (which I despise) I cannot stand cock fans ! Well anyway he was going on about waxing us last year and they are going to do it again this year and that ticks me off . Well anyway I wanted to spout off on here and try to get a little encouragment from the Vol faithful . So I think by what I have read about the practices it looks like there is some swagger back and though I know that does not mean a winning season this year it still gives me alot of hope!!!! GO VOLS!!!! and I hope within all hope we get those cocks back this year !!!!

I think most "other" fans were reacting to the record and the turmoil associated with a coaching change. We were really not that far away last year. Our talent was pretty good as evidenced by an outstanding defense. Offensively, we were hamstrung by poor line play, which I believe we could directly contribute to Clawson. We had an outstanding line the year before and lost no one. We are bound to screw up occasionally, but I think if we correct some basic offensive flaws, we win more than "other" fans will imagine.

I agree. Just having a running game will change how our offense works. Just a few of these zone blocking schemes and that will release what - any of four or five running backs into the secondary. Thus causing the secondary to "cheat" up, opening more passing lanes. Nothing fancy. No need to flip the linemen from play to play. I think this year will be much better than last year, and not as fun as next year!

I could even forgive an Ole Miss lose if we beat UF this year. I hate those guys!

to this day i no idea why usc(jr) feels they have the right to talk smack. That program's goal each year is to be mediocre at best. As far as the rest of the sec goes, they will get what is coming to them. Go vols!

I don't think we lose to Ole Miss this year. Even with the good recruits CEO got for CHN, they are still behind us in overall talent. We have better coaches, and more enthusiasm now. I believe CHN will settle back to being a serviceable coach like he was at Arkansas. I think we are still a year away from Florida. Hope I'm wrong.

Nobody in the country respects So Car fans. Clemson laughs at them, UNC laughs at them, the entire SEC laughs at them, the rest of the country laughs at them. I wouldn't put too much into an SC fan talking s***, bc well, it's all they got

There is no way we have a losing record this year, and I don't see us losing to uSC either.

The things Lane must fix are fairly simple and straight forward and well within this staff of excellent coaches . They will win some games and have a great season .

Turnovers - with a nationally ranked INT machine in Eric Berry ..the Vols were still only +3 on the season . Takeaways were great ...but our give aways were terrible. Fumbles !! It is all about discipline . I have no doubt the coaches bring it , practice speed and contact will help ...they should be +15 and beyond .

Offense - Much simpler system . The coaches will protect the QB's shortcomings . Zone blocking makes a weaker line stronger by placing multiple blockers at the point of attack . Expect a minimum of 14 points more per game .

Defense - Just gotta keep dominating . It was our only bright spot last season ...they were left on the field for entire games virtually and still held teams to low totals . Can they stay on top ? 1 word ...Monte ...nuff said .

Special teams - Kiffin is opening up the roster for special teams . Gran is a proven coach for special teams. Field position should be better both ways . We should be able to stop the bleeding with the cheap scores and nasty field position .

After Bama's first 2 games last year, I was talking to a Bamma friend of mine(yes, I do have one). Anyway he said he was somewhat optimistic, not because of the wins but because how other coaches in the SEC were commenting on the fact that it appeared that the Bamma playes had gotten their swagger back. I think I am seeing that from the TN players....mental toughness. Something we have not seen in years.

The SEC fans and coaches are going to be eating a lot of crow when Kiffin gets a roster full of top talent and starts kicking some butt and taking names. He's already got the florida and bama games circled on his calendar for the next 2-3 years!

Some of you were talking about SC fans , I lived there for 18 years and they made me sick every football season . Can someone give me our overall record with those idiots? Like I said one of those sc fans on there was talking all kinds of crap and I just want to come back with our record with them and maybe just maybe that will shut him up! Probably not but Iam going to anyway you cannot argue with the facts! and I love everyone's response so thank you !!! and LETS PLAY SOME FOOTBALL!!!!!! Iam SO ready !!!!
