Remember when the AD at Oklahoma threw a temper tantrum and threatened to move the Sooners basketball team out of Norman unless the city voted for their little business entertainment district? No, really. He threatened to move Sooners basketball to Oklahoma City unless they gave in to his demands. Well, looks like he got what he wanted.

Voted on at one in the morning. OU pays 100 million, the city pays the other 230 million by taxing local residents. What an absolute scam.
The best part? It's an off-campus location, meaning the students will have to commute to even get to the arena.
Seriously, what a freaking shakedown this was. I wonder how long it'll be until other major Power 5 schools start threatening their towns as well? I'm going assume many city officials can be bribed or bought, but some won't go along ... and that, that's going to create some fireworks.

Univ. of Oklahoma getting new arena as part of new $1.2B entertainment district
The Norman City Council voted 5-4 in favor of accepting the project plan for the Rock Creek Entertainment District, which includes a new arena for Oklahoma Sooners athletics, and by that same count in favor of establishing two tax increment financing districts to help fund the project.
