that my elite would never get the rrod.



last night got home from work, fired up the xbox to watch some netflix. got about a quarter way through the show i was watching, and it froze up. didn't think one thing about it. i turned it off, let it sit for a minute or two, then hit the power button.

heartbroken, i saw red lights(top left, both bottom). after i finished weeping i decided to take matters into my own hands. used the towel trick and it worked, but i'm just waiting for it to freeze up again. now i'm just wondering if i should have mine worked on, or go buy a slim.

i've had it for over three years now. i guess i'm going to have to call, because i dunno where the receipt is. i havent looked up the info for the extended rrod warranty.

It's not worth going and buying a new one unless you just have money to burn. If so, congrats. Otherwise, I'd either get it repaired locally (or try yourself) or send it off.

buddy of mine says he knows someone that fixes them, guess i'll go that route. i dunno what i'm going to do without streaming netflix on the big screen, and swat every morning.

some people say it's bad for the system, some say it doesnt do damage...so i guess we'll see. i read everything i could find on it last night, split 50/50.

I don't know how overheating your system and melting parts inside would not hurt it. That's essentially what the "towel trick" does.
