I feel bad

I think the play calling has done just that. Keep the ball in Dobbs, Hurd, or Kamara's hands. Dobbs is not an accurate passer. I'm sure that Debord would love to be able to toss the ball all over the field and pull that linebackers and safeties back, but the personnel has not shown that they can do that consistently, including pass blocking and WR play.
They haven't given them a chance to. They wait till its 3rd and 12 before they even attempt anything behind the LBs. Play calling was too predictable in big games. Got better at the end of the year but I want to see it in September.

I'm remembering his play against Missouri, where we mostly just kept it safe since their offense wasn't going to do anything, and Dobbs saw two touchdown passes erased by a drop and a penalty.

I was watching games from the past 2 seasons. And... I don't believe Dobbs can maximize our offense.

I think we have an extremley fast and physical team. Disciplined.

Dobbs has been the key cog in our resurgence. He really has.

But im upset because, i want Dobbs to be the championship QB, but imo hes not and will hold us back again this year...

9 win regular season. 10th win in bowl game.

I know im not alone in this, but I hope to be really really wrong.

Sorry about the depressing post.

No matter how bad you might feel, you will always look worse. Or so I was told.

Dobbs is serviceable but he was not the entire problem.
I see the Vols finishing with 3 losses but having a really good season.

3 losses and really good season don't go together very well unless we're a 2 loss team that makes it to the NC game and gets beat.

And as long as one of the 2 reg season losses is not to Florida.

You can say that all again. 3 losses very likely means we lost 3 of our 4 most important games. Nothing about that equals a "really good season". Nothing.

Especially when you factor in trading Okl for VA tech. What progress would that be?

With all the new coaches and 1st year starters at QB along with our OOC being a little easier we should improve by one win at least with last years team.

I understand teams come out of nowhere and are contenders but given Team 120 should be much improved I think 2 losses should be worst case with good health to be considered a very good season.

Just for argument's sake what if it's two losses to playoff (possibly even NC) AL and some other top ranked team in a bowl?

Dude was talking about regular season record only, said 9-3 record would be really good. Obviously, if we end up 12-3 or 11-3 as a result of having won the SEC and making the 4 team playoff, that's a different story, that's a very successful year.

But 9-3 in the regular season? No.

It's all in how each person defines "very good season"

Good to me would be beating florida and winning the east. Beyond would be very good. Wether that's winning the SEC, CFP, or losing the SEC champ but winning against a very worthy opponent in a BCS bowl.

9-3 would be hard to consider very good but if its a crazy year and we win the east with 3 losses, that's still a good year cause we need it. All depends on how you view it.
