In certain cases. This is one of them and This one deserves to be seen. (I edited the thread title to make it obvious what this thread is about).

Getting screwed like this is just completely wrong. Don’t f*****g tell me that a goal line forward progress call isn’t reviewable. The officiating this season across the NCAA was trash, but seemingly worse in the SEC, and even arguably further garbage in our games. But, here we are.

It's not much to read he circled it. Says that forward progress is reviewable relating to the goal line or first down. Aka they screwed us 3 times with that rule and lied about it not being reviewable
Exactly my point. I’m tired of refs not knowing these rules that are critical to game outcome. It’s not just hurt us before, but other teams as well. It’s got to stop.

There are people that actually believe that play was not reviewable because someone said that on television. As you pointed out, that is obviously not the case. This is an example of gross incompetence on the part of the officials and the announcing team. Unfortunately, we all know the zebras have gone out of their way this season to hose the Vols. We also know not to trust anything said by someone representing a television network. This is going to continue until a coach has the cajones to pull his team off the field after an egregious shafting. I see nothing else that will cause change that is so desperately needed.

Good work. It would seem to be pretty straightforward. These refs didn’t know the rules and should be disciplined for it.

Regardless of it being reviewable or not....what kind of bush league, amateur, rookie, trainee ref goes into a bowl game on 4th and goal in overtime with the game on the line and calls forward progress on what could be and was the final play of the game?? That's amateur hour plain and simple.

Very interesting finding. Thanks for doing the research. Heupel should file complaint about the call to hold refs accountable even tho wont affect outcome of game

Needs lot of editing.

I found this breakdown informative.

My god it's obviously a touchdown, you can't say forword progress is stopped because he wasn't moving forward for a 1/4 of a second... ridiculous! ESPECIALLY ON A GAME ENDING PLAY! IN OT!! WHERE HE IS BEING TACKLED TO THE GROUND!!! AND HE IS NOT DOWN YET!!!! Apply your logic to every run in a game and half of them are blown dead by the refs.

Posted this in another thread. Look at just how far back the Linesman ruled the play dead. We’re not talking inches here. He had it a full yard short which is completely nuts.

I’m really reluctant to say it, but I don’t believe someone is this bad at their job. This is purposeful

It’s so bad , he marks the play dead a yard before the goal line but the play ends with the ball breaking the goal line . So if there’s no progress forward , how does the ball break the goal line ? We know it wasn’t “backward progress “ lol

That seems fairly straightforward to me. Forward progress is reviewable “with respect to… the goal line. “ Now that they have pinned themselves to the admission that it is a forward progress issue, is there any question the play is “with respect to the goal line”? I would love to hear an expert explain the ruling.

If this moron's definition of forward progress is used, then the tight end for Purdue's touchdown should be called back. He was not only stood up, but was actually knocked backward a little. Not excusing the poor excuse for tackling, but, by his definition, it should be no touchdown.
