I do not care anymore. Lose Vols Lose

I am a longtime TN fan (30+ years), and I hope that this is a lesson to the University. Stop hiring local yocals and get a nationally recognized name with a proven record of success (Bruce Pearlesque) The Gruden rumors might have some validity. He was a grad asst at UT under Majors and he married a former UT cheerleader. I have a friend in Tampa that said he has been asked by the local media if he was leaving to coach a college team. That was last year though.

the real loser is you. you are not a true UT fan at all. go cheer for MTSU or some other team if you want to lose.

Maybe there's some middle ground between wanting us to lose and being passionate about us winning every week with the garbage we've been forced to see this year. I mean, I will NEVER want us to lose, ever. NO matter how bad things get, but I'm not excited about watching, I don't really care about watching all of the game anymore. Call it apathy I guess. You can not care anymore and still want us to win. Although losing enough games will result in a coaching change, you don't have to wish for that to happen. For one, it's already happening, so just sit back and watch if that's how you feel.

here come the "holier than thou" crowd. They want fulmer gone, but they dont have the cajones to want losses to ensure such a departure. The more we lose, the more that we ensure we will be rid of Phildo.

80% of fans realize that we need a change. Most of those persons believe that we need to lose, and lose often to shock the administration into affirmatively making a change...BUT, they dont have the guts to pull for us to do the very thing that will cause the change...LOSE. We are losing anyway, so what does it really matter? Its really not that hard...I promise. We suck, so its expected...it makes me feel better to know that Fulmer is yet another step closer to being gone, and it raises the odds that Foster, Jones, Briscoe, Ayers or Fulmer will say something stupid or call out the fans yet again...which is quite entertaining.

I consider myself a real fan. I know what its going to take to move on and become relevant in college football again. Your sunshine, rah rah for the team no matter what, tailgate your butt off attitude is enabling the same old crap. If Fulmer is back next year, then dont blame me.

Very sad comment.

If you cheer for our opponents that makes you KureVol, rockytop15, and DaytonVol nothing more than Gator Trash, Bama Trash, and UGA Trash.

I couldn't have said it better Dayton.:good!:
I want Fulmer gone and if that means hoping we lose then Im all for it. Fulmer has caused our program to be a joke, so I want him gone. Imagine if hes given another year to damage our program and make another 3 million while we suck. Fulmer has caused my last 5 years of watching my beloved Vols really suck and I hope he jumps in the Tennessee River so I dont have to see him coach again.

I honestly can't root for UT to lose games. Despite the fact that logic says that losses guarantee a change and I want a change. Fanhood is not logical. I want UT to win every time out, and I hope they beat USC this weekend. Go Vols!!!

Who put you in charge of what can and can't be said?

KureVol, when he posted something this idiotic:

All this chest beating, "I'm a bigger VOL fan than you are" is weak. If one fan wants the team to lose to have regime change, so be it. If other fans want to root for the VOLS to win, win, win so we can keep Fulmer, so be it.

We're all fans on some level but none is better than another one.

This is funny...Pearl didn't get "national recognition" until he turned around Tennessee. If you're using Pearl, then you need to push for a younger, hungry, "ready to prove himself" guy.

It seems almost contradictory at this point to embrace a change in coaching and pull for the Vols simultaneously.

You can't have your cake and eat it too...

I want Phil gone. But I will never wish a loss upon the VOLS.

Then he would never be forced out. The Vols HAVE to lose to get rid of him. Its easy to see the Good Ole' Boys Club will keep him until doomsday unless he loses so much they have to let him go due to fan outrage. What to do? Want to have an effect? Then, don't go to the games. If you are then you are showing support for Mike's Mafia.

The amount of anger on this board is truly amazing. It's sad actually. While I am not exactly happy with Miles, I do understand that there is more to life than football.

As do most of us. Unfortunately, others of us are willing to stoop to the despicable levels of cheering against our own and launching personal assaults on a coach that has not only brought championships to our alma mater, but also has remained faithful to his team and fanbase over the years.

I, amongst others, am actually excited about the future. Tennessee has shown that it is willing to spend ungodly amounts of money on facilities and a faithfulness to those who wear the Orange. I'm quite confident that we will bring in someone who will be a winner. . . .quickly.

I have yet to cheer against our team, and as a person, I think Phil is a nice guy. However, a loss is much more acceptable to me than ever before. If we have to lose the remaining meaningless games this year to assure a new coach next year...then ok. If the decision has already been made, then I hope Phil wins out.

Unfortunately, If we win most of our remaining games, MH will keep Phil saying I saw tremendous improvenment in the second half of the year(because of the much weaker schedule) and we went to a bowl(toilet). One more year.....

I think most people on this board want what's best for the program. We just have different views on what has to happen to reach those goals. I happen to think it is going to take more losses before Fulmer is gone, because I feel MH will think of any reason to keep him.

There is not a "fan" alive who would wish for their team to lose.

You are the loser here.

I know what you're saying volman but I would be curious to know how many of the fans, that have repeated what you are saying, would feel that way if the circumstances were different. Let's say that in Fulmer's contract, it said that if he lost 8 games or more then he would be immediately let go with no options whatsoever to stay as head coach. Let's say that with those stipulations, the Vols were sitting at 4-7 with the Kentucky game left to play. I want to know how many of the Vol fans would be rooting for Phil and the boys to get a W so he could stay as head coach and drag us down even closer to the bottom?

I myself would have to be hoping for the loss. I'm sorry if that bothers you but sometimes you have to make sacrifices in order to get where you need to be. Sometimes you have to lose a battle in order to win the war.If losing a game is what it is going to take in order to get rid of Fulmer and start looking out for the well being of the program and its future, then I'm all for it. We must strive for the best at UT and be willing to make sacrifices along the way to get there.

Excellent post!! IMHO, Fulmer has done much for the university and program. In my book, he is a winner and a class act. That being said, I do believe the game has passed him by. I just hope he bows out with grace and dignity.

The fans should stop the name calling and wishing for bad things to happen to Fulmer and team. Time will take care of this problem and the university will make the right decisions. And yes, you should be excited about the future. UT is a winner and will be again!!

Agree 100%!! :eek:k: I also think, that given a longer leash Fulmer could and would, bring back UT to greater heights! In this day and age however, it's "what have you done for me lately?", and Phil's record in the last five years, for whatever reason(s) is only average. The question is. . .will UT give him that leash or replace him?
