I am a longtime TN fan (30+ years), and I hope that this is a lesson to the University. Stop hiring local yocals and get a nationally recognized name with a proven record of success (Bruce Pearlesque) The Gruden rumors might have some validity. He was a grad asst at UT under Majors and he married a former UT cheerleader. I have a friend in Tampa that said he has been asked by the local media if he was leaving to coach a college team. That was last year though.

There is not a "fan" alive who would wish for their team to lose.

You are the loser here.

you guys are insane.... if losing gets the coach out, then i am pro losing... saying not a fan alive would root for their team to lose is crazy. nobody WANTS their team to lose, but if losing is the only thing that will bring change then please bring it on.

here's a hint:

WE ARE EFFING LOSING ANYWAY!!!!!!!!!!!

BTW, the "local yocal" won us a National Championship, the only one in your 30+ years of experience.

Also, Pearl is probably not the ideal example of hiring a "nationally-recognized name with a proven record of success."

I hope that we can make the transition as amicably as possible and show appreciation for what Phillip did for our program in the 90's.

I am just angry because I love football season and in a weird way I feel betrayed and cheated on. Kind of like when a girl cheats on you. Weird emotions this year.:dunno:

It's fine to be angry. It's not OK to make assinine comments like your original post.

'real' fans of the Vols' program (not the coach) should cheer for L's until Philllll-up resigns or is fired.......

Talent and little luck brought us that NC. Phil should have had at least two more with all the talent that has come through here. Have you seen most NFL rosters. They are stacked with players from the teams from the 90's and early 2000's

No matter how bad it gets I would never wish the vols to lose. I will always cheer them on even if I know theirs not a chance in hell we win.

When Bruce Pearl was hired everyone I know said Who?

No one in their right mind would suggest that hiring Phillip Fulmer didn't work out for TN. He brought a lot of success during the 90's. Sad to say though, his run of success appears to be over. He will still go down as one of the TN greats though. Give the guy a little credit.

I knew of Pearl from the Tom Davis fiasco years ago.
