The main reason is then maybe it'll cause most of the delusional Pearl lovers to quit posting on here, and maybe then they maybe they will realize that Pearl is not above the program. Yes, he brought excitement here, and had decent success while he was here, but it's utterly ridiculous that some posters still believe that Pearl made UT basketball. I'll be the first to admit, i've liked Pearl while he was here and supported him, but with everything that he has done, it's just time to move on. The thing with Pearl lovers is that for some reason that wont to try and blame others for this, when Pearl is the one who brought every single bit of this on himself, and the univerisity.

is there anyone out there who believes bruce pearl needs to go, but at the same time understands and appreciates what the man did for your program?

with all due respect, tennessee men's basketball was a joke before bruce pearl arrived. he made tennessee nationally relevant.

sorry, if you disagree, as i know i am not a tennessee fan......but, pearl damn sure made tennessee basketball. he did it by taking on anyone, anywhere and beating them.

now, with this mess around, people have diminished his coaching abilities especially with the way the season ended. you don't make six ncaa tourneys in a row if you can't coach.

beyond all of the accomplishments, he never spoke ill of tennessee, tennessee fans, always tried to be positive about the program, was respectful of other programs, respectful of other sports on tennessee's campus, and always professed that he was in it for the long haul at tennessee. he didn't have a "dream job" somewhere else.

the man has many faults, but some of you who hate the man need to wake up.

If they fire Pearl now, what are the chances a home run hire could be made considering the NCAA meeting isn't until June? It's really a big mess right now.

i dont hate him. just hate that he drug the volunteer name through the mud and gave the volunteers a black eye, to match the one we already had from kiffin... thats what im pissed about.

I totally agree gator- I appreciate all he has done for our program and have no hate toward him. However, what he did was inexcusable and he needs to leave!

I agree, what he has done making Tennessee nationally known now is great. However, you don't do what he has done and keep your job.

I think this is the majority opinion, and there have been several threads started saying as much, including at least one by one of the people who vehemently personally dislikes the man. I personally don't dislike him, and this is my position.

the other side of the coin is what UT did for Pearl, never heard of him before he came to UT except for NCAA run that year.....UT bb is ready for the big time with the support and revenues it generates.....it was a good fit....to bad pearl blew it..........

also it makes no more sense that UT can only be successful with pearl as Ky can only be successful with cal, or UNC with williams.....with the fan support, revenues, and healthy AD dept UT can continue to build basketball tradition

Awesome quote!! It is sad that it takes someone out of the Tennesse family to recognize efforts Bruce put into the Basketball coaching job at UT. Tennesse fans are the most negative in the country. They always want more. Thanks for the quote.

I think for all he has done in terms of good PR he has also reversed some of that with his recent actions, I don't think anyone can disagree with that. With that being said I supported him for most of his tenure here, but I don't like cheating and as you said he made his bed.....but Hamilton is pretty inept too and I would love to see him go if Bruce is gone.
