From both the Dolphins and Raiders what they thought of Us hiring Lane kiffin...now for those of You that do not know, I work at Dolphin stadium and have access to just about all the players when they come in so I had a few minutes to ask a couple of them about their thoughts...I won't name all of them but some I will...I asked a certain Oakland qb what he thought about Lane and he said he was a nice guy...I said how good of a coach is he?..He smiled...Nothing else...Another Oakland player said he really liked Lane and hoped he had good success where ever he went...also avoided the "how good of a coach question"...Most startling answer was when I said to one player We were looking to maybe hire Kiffin He looked at me completely serious and said...WHY? :eek:lol: Wow...Now I got to talk to Our own Jason Allen and He said He is going to miss Fulmer and said he was nothing but good to him...He said he didn't know Lane so He couldn't really say anything good or negative against him..Best one of the day...I asked Channing Crowder what He thought and He said He hoped We would hire kiffin...He had a nasty sly grin on his face however and I asked him what he thought about Kelly and He said he was ok and then asked him about Leach and He got a crazy face and said "Oh hell no, Don't go hiring that cat man!...He might make you guys winners again and We just can't have that! :eek:lol: Dead serious that's what He said...He said out of all the candidates He liked Leach best because He can coach kids who are not the best players and make them good players in a tough conference...So there You go folks straight from the horses mouths

So Channing Crowder is the authority on who the best coaches are? He could've played for any coach in the country in college, yet he picked Ron Zook.

Yea, thanks for the info but I could care less what a former Gator thinks about our coaching situation.

At the same time I wouldn't expect many in the Raiders organization to have much good to say about a coach who was just fired.

Didn't Channing Crowder wreck his car on I-95 and just leave it there with guns in it? I'll pass on his opinion. I'm not a Lane Kiffen guy so these comments don't suprise me about his coaching since he really has done nothing. As far as coaching kids that are not the best players and making them competetive, Leach is good at that but so is Kelly. He's done it at 3 different places he's coached at. Him and Leach would definitely be my top 2 choices.

good stuff I think. I used to get to see baseball games there for free because of a guy in group sales...sadly, he's gone now. The inside of the stadium is cool though, I thought the 2 WS trophies were neat.

I'm curious did he get to speak with the owner or Def Co?

Good grief, you guys need to chill out. I'd probably value players opinions over most others. They know who motivates, who schemes, who wins, etc. Sheesh. Maybe when the stress of the hire is over some of you guys can take vacations. :)

The man PLAYS the game, I would think He would have a good idea who was good and who wasn't...As far as going to play for Zook...90% of that national title team they had was Zook players...There goes that theory out the window...I wasn't talking to him as a former gator player I was talking to him as a person...I could give a rats a$$ if he left his car on the road with guns in it, wasn't exactly what this thread was about...It was opinions on coaches from football players.

Why's that? The players did not fire him. Former UT players as well as current UT players say good things about the UT coach who has recently been fired.

Did UF ever play a Leach-coached team while Crowder was there?

Interesting post and insights that most of us don't have access to. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the post. It probably has as much if not more value than the "insiders" posts we see on here.

Thanks for the comments. Interesting to see what some of the players responses are and just as interesting to see how other forumites immediately try to attack the comments. Apparently they don't care about anyone's opinion but their own.

Justin, Exactly what point are you attempting to make?..Does it MATTER if He played against a leach team??...No...your reaching for straws and you keeping pulling out the short one...It was a mans opinion, He is entitled to one like everybody is...Man some of you guys really need to get laid.

I did yesterday and I guess it didn't help...

What do Urban Meyer's accomplishments have to do with Zook's coaching ability.

Does Meyer's national championship make Zook's 3 consecutive 5-loss seasons impressive?

Well of course They are going to attack the comments, I quoted what a former Gator player said and they quickly went to say bad things instead of using their heads for once and just enjoying what they had to say...But hey its a forum, everybody here seems to be an expert in one way or another and yet 99% of them never even played the game and if You disagree with them in any way about the coach they want, Your an idiot! :eek:lol: Oh man

No but it shows Zook was a damn fine recruiter...Urban wouldn't have won that title without his players...FACT!..by the way, How did this go from a players comments to Zooks coaching ability thread?!?!

Your point being? I can tell you one thing, he's closer to the heartbeat of Leach than we are. He's played with and against Tech players and probably has plenty of second hand information.

It's funny watching you try to convince this forum that Mike Leach should be our choice...

it's almost like you believe that if you can win over the volnation, leach will be hired :)

I'd wager that more than 1% of posters on this board have "played the game."

And, since you clearly discount the opinion of those who didn't play the game, I'm curious - can you provide us with some details about your decorated career as a football player?
