Just heard him on cbs college talking about Marlon Brown and he said it doesn't look like Tennessee is in it for him but "when I left there I felt real good about him" so this is a huge loss for Tennessee. The way he said was typical Fulmer taking a jab. Does anyone besides him give a rats butt how good he felt about Marlon before he left?

Hey Phil how did you feel about least years class? It makes me sick that he ran this program straight into the ground and then has the gual to take shots at our new staff on TV. Thanks for all the great OL and DL players you left here Phil. THANK YOU MH for seeing through this guys act even if it was 6 Million late.

The recruiting season became the highlight of the football season under Phil. He was an above average recruiter, but was a terrible game-day coach. Great results in February are meaningless unless they translate to success on the field.

I know he's bitter, but much like Majors' little jabs over the years, I think these little digs just make him look bad.

I'm pissed that they waited around until he ran the program into the ground. They should have canned his ass in 2005. In my opinion even before that. Phil couldn't get any recruits out of memphis anyway who is he kidding.

I'm confident this group of recruits will get "coached UP" unlike what's been going on at UT for several years. Sad that Philip Fulmer must whine, bellyache & diss his school like this. Take the money & run, Phil.
GO VOLS!

You guy's are sad. Just let it go. You'll feel better.

The man was hired by CBS to talk about college football. He's doing that.

Yeap, and when he talks about UT he's fair game. If he or anyone else doesn't want to hear the feedback from any remarks he chooses to make, then he should keep his mouth shut. We blast other members of the media about their remarks about the program. Fulmer is a member of the media now, and he's certainly not immune from criticism.

Your right except when he says "I felt good about him when I was there" meaning if If I wouldn't have been fired he would sign with Tennessee. Thats not just talking college football thats talking about himself and taking a jab at our coaching staff. Funny how he says it's a "huge loss for Tennessee" when he was never able to recruit Memphis.

Care to make a bet on that?

Fulmer did not run the program in the ground. He made the program legit! Being a program in the SEC, without a stable recruiting base, was bound to come full circle after a while.

People that blame everything on Fulmer are uneducated football "fans". Without him, UT would still be Ole Miss/South Carolina. Nothing! Give the guy his due. Recruiting to Knoxsville is not that easy. It was (maybe) his time to go, but the down yrs are not his fault completely.

Made the program legit? Are you serious? Tennessee has one of the most storied programs in college football history and that started way before Phil Fulmer. UT would still be ole miss/South Carolina? Who is the uneducated one here?

Dumb

What?

Also, Spelling Knoxville with an "s" is perhaps one of the most uneducated things I have ever seen on this board.

What's going on? First you claim Fulmer was never able to recruit Memphis - then you call someone out as uneducated on UT football?

I don't mean to say that he has never got anyone out of Memphis but how many times over the last 10 years did Fulmer pull the top recruit out of Memphis? I'll let you do the research since I'm pretty sure there were alot more misses then gets but feel free to prove me wrong. I can however make you a long list of players that went elsewhere which really isn't a big deal. Memphis is along way from Knoxville so I don't even really consider it "Tennessee" when it comes to recruiting but for him to go on TV and act like Marlon was a lock if he was still here is ridiculous. It was obviously his way of taking a shot at CLK and staff.

Next time you call somebody out about being educated about anything, make sure you at least spell Knoxville correctly please.

Typo...soooooooooooooo sorry!

Fact is UT had 1 NC from 1951 to 1998. really only had a chance for one other in that time frame. Fulmer needed to go, but he did not run the program in the ground.

i would rather be yelled at for making a typo, than a stupid comment like it is fulmer's fault!

UT used to be Ole Miss/South Carolina. Don't give me the 30's -early 50's...none of us were born then. KNOXVILLE! see no typo! x and s are next to each other!

Fulmer did run the program into the ground. If you think that without Fulmer we'd be on the same level as Ole Miss/USC, you're clueless about the history of the program. Glad he's gone. Now maybe our recruiting classes will actually overachieve rather than underachieve.

Ugh, I can't stand Foolmer!!!

I'm glad his butt is out of Knoxville. Sure, we might have had a higher "rated" recruiting class, but that means nothing if the coaching at the school sucks.

Hope you are enjoying retirement Phil! :) I know we don't miss you!!!!!!!!!!!

I love the fact that Kiffin landed a better class in 2 months of being HC than Fulmer did in 2 of the last 3 years. The man was at UT 17 years, was considered a top recruiter and had worse classes than Kiffin during a coaching change. That should tell everybody where Fulmer was taking the program. People tout the 2007 class but landing a top 25 class every 3 or 4 years won't cut it in the SEC. Also, I'd be willing to bet that a 20th ranked class under Kiffin will go farther than a top 3 class under Fulmer. The coaching will be better and the evaluation of the talent is more solid. Fulmer went after a lot of sketchy 4 and 5 stars that other programs didn't want as much and looked like a genius for doing it until they got kicked out of school or never made it in.
