I am getting a little nervous about these AAC Coaches

Justin Fuentes and Scott Frost are both crashing and burning. So did Butch Jones. Kind of nervous about some of these coaches since we also have an AAC coach.

I was just thinking the same thing. Those coaches were lighting it up in the AAC, but the move up hasn't worked out for them. I'm still hopeful, but won't be surprised of a failure for us as well.

It can be worrisome but I don’t believe we had many other options. And hey, everyone’s gotta start somewhere. I believe as long as JH can get us in a place of STABILITY. I would consider his hire a success. The amount of horrible hires we’ve gone through have put us in this place. And if he can get us to consistently be a decent football team, then we can go for a home run hire. As long as we keep our expectations of him realistic and he follows through without putting us in a hole I’d consider that a success. If he turns out to be a home run hire himself then we all win.

You can usually figure out why each coach didn’t work out if you pay enough attention.

Frost I have no answer for though. That’s puzzling. Dude knows how to coach football.
When in doubt look at the QB. If you have a good one, you're probably doing ok. If not, you probably suck.

I don't quite agree with the premise of the thread, though. I don't know that I would characterize Fuentes as a disaster.

Just remember how confident we've been about every hire since Fulmer. Each on was a disaster in one way or the other. Entering into a season with a healthy dose of trepidation can't be anything other than a very good sign.

One more thing...no more JG and no more Gump. See how good things look now?

Frost is doing the same thing that Pruitt did. He is sticking with Martinez for some crazy reason. Martinez learned to play watching tapes of JG. This will cost Frost his job before the season ends.
Check out Nebraska's team roster. Martinez is a junior, and none of the other quarterbacks (one 3rd year soph and four frosh including walk-ons) have ever played a down of college football. This is Frost's fourth year, but roster management like that doesn't read like a sound blueprint for long-term program success.

Really kind of confused by Fuentes' lack of success. I really thought he would do well there.

I think Frost still has an opportunity to improve Nebraska. His cupboard truly was pretty bare going in.

No chance for Frost. He will be gone before end of year. Already had the second worst winning percentage in Nebraska history before the loss today. They are also looking for ways to get out of the buyout like we did.

IMO he can't get recruits to go there. Nebraska used to have a pipeline into California. Nebraska still plays 8 man football at the high school level due to sparse populations vs geographics. The idea they have a bunch of big ol farm boys ready to suit up and dominate was never true. Every now again, sure a blue chipper comes out of there, perhaps last one that was a Nebraskan was Dave Remington, but other than him those guys are few and far between. Hell, THEY want out of Nebraska!

Could be. But it would be another in a long line of mistakes by Nebraska IMO. He's lost a lot of competitive games. Their business but Lincoln isn't an attractive destination for coaches for a lot of reasons. Tough recruiting. High demands. Nasty winters.
