I listened to his entire interview last night on Vol Calls.
He completely confronted the idea of him coaching again.
He did not give a cute answer or avoid the question.
He emphatically stated that he no longer wants to coach at UT or anywhere else.

He also did not avoid the question of his support for Pruitt.
Many AD’s in such a situation will give the dreaded insincere, lukewarm vote of confidence.
This was nothing like that.
He was effusive in his praise for Pruitt and almost begged our fan base for more time for Pruitt to upgrade the roster.
He said he’s 100% sure that Pruitt is the right guy.

Now, it’s not that I necessarily agree with that.
And I’m not one of those pro or anti Fulmer people.
I appreciate both his strengths and flaws.
But, this interview was a home run in that he didn’t dodge anything and, wrongly or rightly, let us know that he is
“all in” on Pruitt.

So, I’ve changed my previous prediction that a 3-9 finish or worse might force a change.
I now believe that even at 1-11, Pruitt stays.
It is what it is.

Fortunately, that decision will not fall solely on Fulmer. There is a point he will be powerless to resist the inevitable. I don’t know when that is, and it’s likely not this year....but there is a tipping point. There always is. And if he waits too long, the changes won’t just include CJP.

Phil should remember, someone always has more “juice”.

I don't believe bad football will get Pruitt gone this season. He will have next season to prove/disprove himself regardless of the final record.

The other side of the coin though is police videos and things off the field that paint UT in a bad light WILL get Pruitt fired this season if he doesn't put a stop to it. Hopefully, no more bad incidents will arise that looks bad on the university. Fulmer and those above him will have no choice if enough negative attention is garnered.

If thy right eye offends thee......

I don't think the outside world of media really matters with Phil at all. I mean ever since the Schiano stuff, they were never gonna write about us in good light anyway.

Bad football? How about The worst football in the history of the school! We all thought 4-8 was rock bottom..Got a feeling this year is about to be worse.

Yes, since Schiano, we have been showered with unwanted nasty attention.
(Did you see what I did there without taking a direct shot at Pedophile State University).
Wait...what...still too soon?

Fulmer gave an emphatic answer because he would be a fool to want to get back into coaching. The landscape has changed dramatically and he has it made as AD. As far as his support for Pruitt, he has to. It's his hire. He looks bad if Pruitt fails. Also, it's never a good thing when an AD has repeatedly express his support for a coach. I do agree with you on one thing though. Pruitt will be here next year no matter what. After that, it's anyone's guess.

Phil Fulmer has just punted his decision on when to fire Jeremy Pruitt to November-December 2020 in my opinion

We are very fortunate to have CPF in charge. His 100% backing of CJP is exactly what is needed righ now (for recruiting which is probably even more important than who is the head coach at this time - and this is where CJP has done great so far). Having said that I really like CJP ovearall and hope he turns things around and stays at UT for very long time. He comes accross as hard working no nonsense players coach, instead of slick and obsessed with his media image like CBJ which was such a turn-off and painful to watch. I expect things in W-L column will start improving very soon - perhaps we get a huge W even this weekend.
GO VOLS!

He knows from experience no coach in their right mind would work for this administration without a contract so outrageous he could never get it approved. This is the schools current reputation and it will take a long time to change it.

I sure hope they both know what they're doing. I haven't completely thrown in the towel, but I really need to see something these next 8 games. Something, anything, to make me feel better about it than I do right now.

Looks like we'll have to wait another year, or longer for the Gruden threads and all the inside info from the OG.

Im just glad for a new thread on the subject. That other one was awful
It’s all awful right now. Football, administration, media, fan division.

Maybe the monumental beat down Georgia is about to issue will change all that....LOL.

Ya that was amazing. He made what might turn out to be the worse head coaching hire ever at ut (and think about what that is say)...but he went on a radio show and made sure everyone knows he’s not trying to take his job. That’s leadership right there folks. Apparently

Well, I couldn't say how Fulmer feels about media but I do whole heartily agree that the talking heads surely weren't going to give an all out fan revolt their blessings. Most likely they were going to push more of a negative agenda regardless.

Still, there is a big difference in the media having a negatively biased opinion over the whole "Schiano Sunday" thing and Pruitt and his players bringing a negative light on themselves and this university. If there ends up being enough of the latter, what Phil thinks really won't matter. It'll be over his head and out of his hands.

I Think at either 1 or 2 wins, he stays but if this team comes out next year and plays flat, he'll be gone midseason

“I will NOT be the coach at Alabama” “I did NOT have relations with that woman” “I do NOT want to coach at TN again”

See a trend here? What’s he supposed to say? If Pruitt failed and Phil had the chance to jump back in that chair, I’d bet any amount he would.

Here is what is NOT normal. It’s not normal that the AD attend every practice, (does he attend every women’s practice? Of course not) It’s not normal for the AD to be giving football advice It’s not normal for the AD to coach or even try to coach the OL...EVER.

Asking coaching advice would from Fulmer would be like asking it from Majors, it’s different now.

Agreed with everything Fulmer said.
