Yes, my first team is Rutgers. But who wants to talk about them?....lol.

I do love me some Lady Vols, so let’s have some fun and make some stats predictions.

Coach Harper might add more players, but here is my best guess with the lineup to date.

Starters

SF Davis - 30 MPG, 20 PPG, 8 RPG possible 1st or second team AA
C Key - 20 MPG, 10 PPG, 8 RPG, 3 Blocks PG
PG Horsten - 25 MPG, 14 PPG, 6 RPG, 5 APG, and improved 3 TO’s PG
SG Burrell - 25 MPG, 13 PPG, 5 RPG (just love her game)
PF Green - 22 MPG, 8 PPG, 6 RPG just feel like she will start

Bench

C KK - 15 MPG, 5 PPG, 4 RPG
PF McKoy - 15 MPG, 4 PPG, 3 RPG
SG Rennie - 12 MPG, 4 PPG 45% 3Pt Defensive issues limit her minutes
SG/SF Salary - 15 MPG, 6 PPG, 40% 3pt She will see minutes because of her 3 pt shot
SG Darby - 8 MPG, 2 PPG

Based on my use of position nomenclature (sorry Coach Jumber) there is a big need for another PG. I expect Coach Harper to sign one.

My total minutes are a little low and my total points are a little high but, heck, it’s just a guess.

Ok, I killed a few more minutes of boredom. Thanks for reading!

First let`s take a step back. Not one person on this board knows what kind of player Green will be. Remember she played in the big south not the SEC and there big a big difference in the level of play. Looking at her on film she no better then Mccoy and we all seen how Mccoy struggled. Right now we need to get players that will help compete or get back on the level of SC,UConn or any of the top teams in the country.

It’s still fun to speculate 😉

I agree that we have no confirmation Green will fair any better than McCoy against SEC competition.

She plays under control based on the limited film I’ve seen. This quality alone is the reason I think she’ll start at the 4. Looks like a pretty good decision maker and she really does have some moves.

McCoy is tenacious and has a lot of energy when she’s in the game. It was a little chaotic at times last season though. Unless she makes a big jump offensively I give the nod to Green.

Where do you think Saunders will fit in to the picture next season? Hard for me to say because we saw so little of her against good teams. Would love to see us take advantage of her size in some situational offense. Getting her and Tamari in the game at the same time would be difficult to defend for most teams.

I'll play. SEC averages

PG Horston 35 min (there's no one on the bench that can really sub for her) - 15 ppg, 6 rpg, 6 apg
SG Burrell 30 min - 14 ppg, 7 rpg, 1.5 spg
SF Davis 32 min - 19 ppg, 9 rpg - WBCA AA
PF Green 24 min - 5 ppg, 5 rpg
C - Key 18 min - 5 ppg, 7 rpg, 3 bpg

Bench
C Kasi 18 min - 4 ppg, 3 rpg
PF McCoy 10 min - 3 ppg, 2 rpg
SG Rennie 10 min - 3 ppg, 1 rpg
PF Saunders 10 min - 1ppg, 3 rpg
SF Salary - 8 min - 2 ppg, 1 rpg
SG Darby - 3 min - 1ppg, 1 rpg

I think about 72 ppg is about right for this team with limited scoring abilities. The bulk will come from Horston, Burrell and Davis, and the games where they look really good offensively will be because other players step up in scoring. I think that players like Green, Key, McCoy and Kasi all have double digit scoring games in them, but it will not be consistent. They will win games based on strong defense more than a high-powered offense IMO.

I don’t think there is a more fun player to watch off a defensive rebound than Rae Burrell.

If Saunders work on her footwork i see her getting mins at the 4. As for Green i`m not sure she can out work Mccoy, Mccoy has the game but plays wild at times.

If McCoy wants to play she is going to have to start hitting those layups. She did a lot of good work and it ended up not mattering because she bricked the layup or putback. Fix that and she is good to go.

I agree

I think Green will add toughness to the program and a blue collar work ethic. I think her contributions will be rebounds, setting solid screens, and hitting open layups.

I am probably giving her a lot of credit because she is a philly kid. When you’re from philly you just have a different toughness to you LOL...

McCoy's development into an SEC player got derailed at the start by a series of injuries last season. I expect she'll make a significant contribution this year.

Sort of been the story of her career. Coaching changes and injuries. Hopefully she can stay healthy next season. Seemed to be one thing after another last season.

I would like to see McCoy and KK take big steps forward this summer and take ownership of the 4 spot. I don't see Green starting at the beginning of the season but, if as advertised, she may break into the starting 5 by the time SEC season starts. We do need a point guard but I would trade it off for a 75% shooting percentage from 5 feet and in. Heaven forbid we get a great grad transfer for a PG AND make most of those 3 footers.

Seeing as how we have Green and Muffet already introduced into this thread I think I may be safe in light of @lvocd 's rules of posting to state that there were some posters on McGraw's that were upset that Green did not decide to come to ND.

Sorry guys, but what the hel- is an RPG. To me this is a baseball term for "runs per game". I thought I followed b-ball fairly well but guess not, as I can't make this abbreviation come up to anything. Please help this dumbas-!!!

Rebounds per game

Some others are

PPG points per game
BPG blocks per game

I'm really hoping the starting point guard isn't on the roster yet. That needs to be priority 1, 2, and 3 for Kellie heading into the offseason. Whatever success they want to have next season is completely dependent on it. And maybe not someone from the ASUN...

Haha I feel the same I am a teacher and even though we are working it’s not the same as daily interaction with my students and my team I coach. It all blends together and it sucks

I think I’m going to wait until we have a final roster, see some snippets of pre-season practice video, and at least an exhibition game before making much comment on the team for the coming (at least I HOPE it’s coming!) season.

One thing I’m anxious to find out before making any guesses about minutes distribution is how each of the players individually handled the WAY-OFF-offseason. Kellie will find out very quickly who found ways to stay active, and who laid around on the sofa watching TV, during the extended stay-at-home quarantining break.

But I will say, generally, that I fully expect most of the returnees to come back strong, and that the (so far) three newcomers to come to Knoxville ready to impress.

I really just hope they are all finding the motivation to stay fit on their own. That’s not an easy thing to do, staying in shape without teammates to push each other. Personally, the stay-at-home restrictions have made me want to eat more and exercise less —just hope the players are strong enough and motivated enough to avoid being like me.
