Hypothetical on the QB situation…

If they were say even in practice, who would you start?
Tough Call. If the young guy is even with the upperclassman in practice, I would start the young guy against Syracuse and see what he can make happen.
I dislike QB rotations, but we have to know who makes the offense tick.
I think Aguilar should pull away from the young QBs in practice. Now I have to watch and see if he gets it done.

Heupel seems to dislike QB rotations also and I think IF we run tempo again it's critical to have a QB and O Line in sync with how he does his snap count and such. Switching out QBs is just another chance for a pre snap penalty at tempo.

I expected Aguilar would either take the job quickly in camp because of his experience or quickly be seen as not making the transition to the SEC level easily.

It turns out nothing seems to have happened quickly. He's not miles ahead nor behind Merk, it seems. I trust Heupel to sort this out but from my official armchair coaching position, it's pretty much a tossup right now.

I thought bumping this thread would be a fun trip down memory lane, given the goings on of present day.

Man I don't give myself enough credit for my foresight and genius.

That's absurd. If he's better than Nico and Joe, which is not a crazy high bar, they would absolutely pay him another million for one more year assuming he could find the eligibility.

That is a much more realistic scenario than the idea that they love GMac or Merklinger so much 12 months from now that they tell a good QB who's a known commodity to get lost.
