No, if he has a Heisman candidate year like Hooker he will go pro and not bother with the petition. It worked for Pavia but didn't for the juco Shortstop Alberto Osuna UT petitioned in baseball.Let’s say Aguilar pulls a Hooker and ends up a perfect fit for our offense…is there any chance he could also pull a Pavia and petition for (and win) another year of eligibility?
I hate what IFs. He will be 25 next year time for JA to go do more manly things. The likelihood of him having a season like HH did in 22 is small, imho.IF he’s a perfect fit just like Hooker was then it would mean a lot of wins for us and it could be the perfect segue to Brandon or MacIntyre IMO…I do think Merklinger would hit the road in this scenario though
Even if it were HH himself I would want him to move on. Go play a man's game. That would be unwise. I think know by now that not just anyone you roll out there in Heupel’s offense is going to look like Hendon Hooker. If you can hypothetically get two years of Hendon Hooker, you take that every time.
Nico and Joe were not good. The offense didn’t look good when the receivers were healthy. Heupel “called the game differently” from the Hooker era when everyone was healthy.Even if it were HH himself I would want him to move on. Go play a man's game.
I believe you're wrong on Heup's O. In 23-24 WRs injuries forced him to call the games differently. You just can't overlook McCoy and Thornton being out, just can't.
what was it you said to me another post...ah yes "people like you would then say that" we disagree, but it is my opinion and it ain't changing. whether you agree or disagree frankly just doesn't matter to me.Nico and Joe were not good. As for “playing a man’s game,” Quinn Ewers cost himself millions playing a man’s game. If someone were 40 and could play at Hooker’s level at UT, I Take that guy in a heartbeat. And it could behoove that guy to stay in school.
Pretty sure college football is a man’s game. Go let one of those guys hit you and let me know if you agree.Even if it were HH himself I would want him to move on. Go play a man's game.

Given a lot of the NFL comes from the SEC I’d say it’s nothing like, say, the jump from high school to SEC. Pretty sure SEC ball is very much a man’s game but you suggested it isn’t so I’ll let you take the hit. I’ll gladly sit this one out.No thanks. But who hits harder NFL or SEC? So you go let the NFL guy hit you and if you make it pass that test get back to us on how it goes with the SEC guy.![]()
Some SEC players are more NFL ready than others but can't say that ALL SEC players are. The guys that are usually play 3 or 4 years then move on with none of this endless eligibility. Would any of last year's CFP teams beaten one of NFL playoff teams? I think not.Given a lot of the NFL comes from the SEC I’d say it’s nothing like, say, the jump from high school to SEC. Yeah, all I commented on was your suggestion that JA isn’t playing a man’s game. I don’t agree with that at all. I never said anything about a college team beating a NFL team. Some SEC players are more NFL ready than others but can't say that ALL SEC players are. My answer to the OP's what if scenario stands...move on. But the probability that JA is the second coming of HH is small. jmo
