Let me start by saying that I don't think for a second that this scenario will play out, but it came up in discussion with a friend. If Florida and Tennessee won out from this point, and a couple of higher ranked teams lost, and after championship games had been played, wound up ranked #1 and #2, respectfully,......who would be the SEC representative to the Sugar Bowl?

Would it be the loser of the SEC championship game, or the next highest ranked team?
I don't know the answer, but does make me wonder.

GO VOLS!

Well, if UF were #1 and UT were #2 in the BCS ... they would play in the BCS Title Game. Sugar Bowl wouldn't be in the equation.

Very very very very very unlikely. Almost impossible.

Yeah, I know they would play in the title game, but who would be the Sugar Bowl representative, since it could not take the SEC champs, or the second rated team? That is the question we are trying to decide. Thanks for the reply. Like I said, we all know neither team is going to win out, but it does make you wonder.

Ahhhhh, I see. I misunderstood. I would think the Sugar would take an at large from any conference. I don't know, though. Good question.

If Notre Dame didn't get into a different BCS Bowl, the Sugar would probably take them as an at-large. As long as they have a winning record, they're in!

OK. Thanks. I suppose the Sugar only has a tie-in with SEC, unless SEC goes to BCS title game? Wasn't sure if they picked next highest ranked, or went with at-large. Thanks for the answers.

I believe in a similar scenario, if Uf made the title game, and another SEC school, such as UT won out, and finished ranked somewhere in the top 5, they would receive the bid, as an at-large to the Sugar.

I don't think the loser of the SECC game would go. You have to expect the loser to drop at leats 3 places in th BCS rankings. I'd say UT would go, based on past trends.
But then again, if Fla loses.............
Man, that's deep!

This isn't impossible. It's happened twice to me in NCAA Football on PS2. I whip up on Florida unmercifully in our matchup and then cruise through an undefeated regular season, win the SEC Championship Game, and then have to face a once-pummeled Florida team in the National Championship Game.

Of course, it's much more unlikely in real life.

I didn't wanna say that it's possible and use that as my example, but it's happened with UT and Alabama for me on the PS2 as well.

Two years ago it happened with me on XBOX. I was undefeated and I played a one loss Florida Gator team for the National Championship.

The Sugar Bowl is obligated to take the SEC Champion if available. If they are playing for a NC then they take an at-large team. It wouldn't make any difference if two SEC teams were in the NC game.

if the SEC Champion makes it to the BCS Title Game, all bets are off w/ the Sugar Bowl. The Sugar Bowl can pick any team they want that meets BCS game regulations. (this is assuming you realize they can't pick another BCS conference champion that's hosting a bowl game, i.e. Duke wins the ACC yet doesn't go to the championship game, Duke goes to the Orange Bowl no matter what)
