I think this is the Board of Trustees that approved Dr. Davenport not the Athletic Board of Trustees. At least he states what is important to them so there is a better understanding of future activity.

probably be like Coach Debord's announcement...come out of the blue...who knows when it will be...heck of a way to run an athletic department...but, as always...:)

It wouldn't surprise me. UT is run by a cohort of morons when it comes to athletics. They are great at building facilities but they have no idea how to run a successful football/basketball program. Coach Fulmer and Summit fell into their laps but I am not sure they have the slightest idea how to build a sustained environment that breeds success. I am not talking about NC's but merely a sustained competitiveness at the conference level.

They will screw it up just as they always have. We had our greatest success with a strong AD. So let's make sure we take our time and let the right guy get away.

UT needs to find the worst guy for the job. This is a very involved process that will take several months to complete. Not hard to see that this is a poorly run organization.

I'm not in the "Blackburn or bust" camp, as I believe he's not the only candidate that could do a good job. However if the powers that be are really going to deliberate this for that long, it's going to potentially hurt our programs. How are they going move forward with position hires until they know what they can pay them? Doesn't the AD determine that?

DAVID BLACKBURN. We don't need any search committee. We have an AD in the system that already knows UTK inside and out.

I hate the admin. They have become elite liberals who only care about politics and how things appear and if they ruin athletics along the way, so be it. If they were going to do this, I'd rather have Hart and Cheek stay. I hope Davenport isn't the reason behind this as many fear. Sure seems that way with all the delays....

What the hell are they doing? Why does Tennessee insist on not hiring Blackburn? LWS, DP do you have any idea of this new delay and why? It seems like Blackburn was all but lined up and now it reads like the search is just beginning. Is Davenport to blame? What a freaking mess.
