Game was amazing and UTs defense just keeps getting worse.

Sunseri hasn't been able to communicate his scheme and defensive players have tuned him out.

Defense is "pathetic" and is worse defense ever at UT. Won't get better.

Offense was "brilliant."

Defense did make last 2 stops and stops on last 4 of 6.

If defense doesn't play better, they could lose 2 of the last 3.

Attendance for Troy game was not good for Dooley...his estimate was b/w 55k-60k actually there. Smallest crowd he's seen at Neyland...sans Marshall game a few years ago.

Since Dooley's challenge, Bray has responded and is in a good groove.

Hyams wondered if they should slow down the offense to help the defense.

Hunter has responded to Dooley's challenge as well...but needs to get more yards after catch. He falls down when defenders are around him...CP fights through it.

Dropped passes cost UT hitting 800 yards.

Hunter is protecting himself (for the draft.)

Hunter has people telling him to be careful on the knee so he can go pro after the season.

Defense has been in 4-3 90% last 4 games...players don't know what to do. Players don't believe in each other (per Maggitt).

Front 7 doesn't match-up with back 4.

Troy had 10 plays of 20+ yards.

The part about Hunter sounds very true, because there is no way Hunter will stay with a kid. He is going to be a very good WR in the NFL.

After break...

"source" told Hyams that Cheek would want to keep Dooley if UT runs the table (not counting the bowl game).

Disconnect b/w AD and Academic institution is significant.

At QB club, Chavis said ppl get in at UGA, Florida and UA that can't get into UT.

UT doesn't count JUCO GPAs where other schools do. This cost Lanier his eligibility.

Any coach that comes into this situation, and protest about our admission issues/disconnect.

UT is already at recruiting disadvantage, the academic disconnect really hurts UT.

Attendance is worrisome. His source says UT can't afford to fire Dooley...but can you afford to keep him if attendance is so bad?

Dooley signed a 7 year contract...buyout is 5 mil for 1st 4 years, 4 mil for next 2 years.

Academic shift started late in CPF's tenure....and Hamilton didn't fight the change.

CPF had issues getting kids in and keeping them eligible.

End of segment.

The academic change was necessary. UT is much more prestigious than where it was sitting a decade ago solely to get idiots on the football team. There are smart kids out there who can play football, it's just a matter of going out to get them.

The whole game I was wondering why the Offense didn't slow down or sustain drives to try and keep the Defense off the field. I know we have a quick strike offense that can score at the drop of a hat but we have to do something to help the defense out.

To me the speed of the offense shouldn't matter. The best way for any offense to help any defense is score. If the Offense is most effective at a fast pace, and it looks pretty darn efficient, then that is what it should do. The defense needs to find a way to get off the field on 3rd and long. It's embarressing.

TN is already at a disadvantage because of the lack of in-state recruiting. We are in the SEC not the Ivy league!

this .. pace of the offense isnt the D's problem, letting teams convert 3rd and long is.

Slowing down the speed of the game is always the best way to help out a bad defense. The less you put them on the field means the less the other team's offense is on the field. Therefore the weak link of our team is not on the field as much. You have to commit to running the ball thought to do this....not passing it 50 times a game.

Just go get some safeties and corners, get an above avg DC. Even if Hunter leaves, we will still have a good roster next year. Fire whomever, hire whomever. I'm used to it

Completely agree with this but when the defense isn't performing the team has to do something to help them out. I kept hoping the defense's performance would improve during this game but it just didn't happen.

The unfortunate thing is that I don't know if our offense can be as effective with a slow-down the game type of strategy. It makes sense to do so to keep our woeful defense off the field, but if we don't convert 1st downs and put points on the board, we'll end up in the same situation: getting beat but with lower scores.

Sure it hurts, but DD loosing defensive guys like Otha peters and that Safety out of the DC area on signing day hurts too.

Guys changing their commitments happens all the time, you can't predict that

But when you have someone who is a quallity recruit that would get into to other schools that you're recruiting against but not Tennessee...that is a problem. A big one.

Not as many as dumb kids.. The simple truth is, if u want to compete with the bamas of the world, u gotta have similar standards.

Exactly. We have got to put together 12-15 play drives that take 6-7 minutes with a score. Not 5 plays that take 2 minutes off of the clock.

Actually, he was not a safety, he was a cornerback. Also it was not national signing day it was in December, and we did not lose him we parted ways with him as other schools were backing off due to academic concerns. Hubbs said it was one of the worst transcripts he had seen, and he did not have a qualifying ACT score at the time.
