i think you could say the same of TN in this case. coming off a 5-6 year coupled with a down class last season...and then on to a 9-4 year, which most of us agree is average...to then land a top 5 class just two years later....that's fairly impressive.Florida has had the no.1 recruiting class in the nation 2 years in year. Plus all of his offensive plays the QB has the option to either run or pass depending on what formation the defense is (if they are playing run or pass). Thats very hard to stop when he gets a QB who can run and pass effectively. Fulmer has his hands full.
The team on the move is Spurrier. I think SC was 5th in recruiting. That should make Fulmer sweat a few more pounds off.
i agree with your point though...it's not like we haven't had top 5 classes before. For USC, this is a HUGE deal.
but the point that HB makes is valid. as good as our class is, it's not like we're leaps and bounds ahead of anyone else in the conf. it's basically keeping pace given what FL, SC, GA, LSU etc...did this year and have been doing lately.
it will be just as tough on the rest of the conf to win the SEC as it will be for Fulmer and co. 6 teams with top 10 classes, 4 of which are in the East. and still only one can win it. so that means that there are 5 coaches over the next couple of years that won't accomplish their goals either with arguably equal or greater talent than the competition.
All we are doing, along with these other teams, is giving ourselves the best chance possible to win it. to do that you have to have talent. all these coaches recognize this. and all have made considerable strides in that department. and yet still only one of them will win it despite the talent level on hand.
