Hurd 622 Rushing Yards away from the record

Jalen Hurd is one heck of a bruising running back, It seems like he has struggled this year, but then you look at the box scores. Right around 100 yards each and every game. And he is a fantastic blocker for Dobbs on blitzes and when the OL gets beat. I hope he gets the record. He deserves it.

He will get it unless he gets hurt. I watch all these games closely, cause I'm gonna miss Hurd, Kamara, Sutton, dobbs, maybin, but we are gonna have a hell of a draft. Ugh

Hurd does the dirty work that this offense needs. He won't have an ungodly average per rush but he (and Jennings) brings a sense of grit and toughness that would otherwise be sorely lacking. I hope Tennessee fans realize how hard this guy works every game.

I think 1 of either Hurd or Kamara will be back next year.

agreed. I think it's Kamara. he would add millions to his contract by waiting a year. He's played second fiddle to Hurd since he got here. He's shown skills but never been the lead guy. Spend a year as the feature back, then leave.

Let's just hope he has some big games the next couple of weeks and breaks the record at Neyland on the way to beating Alabama.

That is the kind of story his effort deserves. Incredible kid, one of the strongest backs I have ever watched play. Great receiver and blocker...he is going to do very well on Sunday's, and will deserve everything he gets from it.

Definitely a VFL, and there is no doubt he has given his all for Tennessee every single day since he showed up on campus.

Thanks Jalen, we all owe you one for believing this team could be great again.

I actually think this too. Right now I don't foresee him going higher than the 3rd or 4th round. And it's really not his fault, he just hasn't had a good line to play behind. I think he could raise his stock next year.

I'm leaning towards this as well but who knows. RB's aren't the commodity in the NFL that they once were. IMO he has to have some big breakout games to land in the 1st-2nd round should he declare at the end of this season.

these days as a RB its better to go in the 3rd or 4th and get to that 2nd contract faster than it is to spend another year getting 25 carries a game on your lower body for a round or 2 improvement. I would love to see him come back, but honestly he's doing himself a disservice if he comes back. go get your money Jalen you've earned it.

I think they are both gone. I just do. Kamara wanted to go this year, and we aren't exactly utilizing him that much after we said we would. He will probably just focus on getting a good combine score. I doubt he will come back.

And Hurd. While it might be smart for him to wait one more year because of how stacked this RB class is, I just feel like he thinks he is ready for the NFL now (probably is) and once he has a real OL to block for him he can explode more. I hope I am wrong. I would love to have him back, but I just feel like the decision has been made for awhile.

Kamara is on track to break the most underutilized talent ever at UT.

No offense to Kamara, but I just don't see it. He was billed as this electrifying playmaker coming into last season and after watching him in 16 games, I'm just not overly impressed. I'm not convinced that if you put Berry or Kelly in that position you wouldn't get equal or better results. He's good but he's not the elite player I thought he was going to be. True, he's not as utilized as he could be but he's had enough touches over the last 16 games to show me that he's not as fast as I thought and he tends to dance too much with the ball instead of making a cut and going like Hurd and Kelly do.

Give Hurd or any other RB in the country 2-3 carries per game and what do you think you'll see? For example, vs Florida, Hurd got hit at the los and driven back 7-8 yards on his first carry and then gained 2 yards on his second. What if DeBord/Jones then said "well, that's enough for Hurd" the same way they evidently do with Alvin? What would your impression of Jalen be if he didn't get 22 more carries?

Bottom line, as good and as vital as Hurd is to this offense, its Kamara who's more explosive and has the better chance to give this team splash plays out of the backfield. Yet, he's getting damn near zero opportunity to do so. I still say Hurd should touch the ball 20 times a game and Alvin 12-15..... not 2-5.
