Hugh was so lucky to win the bowl game last night after his bone headed play calling at the end of regulation. He is not yet ready to lead a team in the SEC as a head coach. OC; Yes. Head coach; NO way.

Just say no. Move on. Nothing here for Tennessee to get excited about as a head coach.

His strategy was sound. His RB lost his mind and didnt execute properly. Fortunately for him it didnt cost them the game.

They just covered a big buyout =3 years ago.=

You guys act like dropping 13 million dollars every 3 years should be like picking up an extra happy meal for the neighbor's kid.

It's amazing. Haslam IS loaded to the gills but he's also bright enough to know not to throw "good money after bad." He suffered through nearly a decade of the Browns looking...... very brown and changing coaches like diapers.

Of course, he could tap Hue Jackson to lead the Vols to glory........
This makes zero sense. Bad money is continuing to pay an incompetent coach - good money is going out and hiring a proven one, which is what Freeze is.

He’s not a football god but he is a perennial 9-10 win game coach. Something Tennessee hasn’t had in over a decade... so where is the issue? LSU has the NCAA so far up their butthole from basketball and football title IX allegations and they’re doing just fine. You act like Freeze would cause an SMU scenario and Tennessee is already accomplishing that without the NCAA’s help. Screw it, send it and hire the guy.
We have better ooriins without the baggage. It’s not going to happen. According to one tweet Auburn was warned by the NCAA when they reached out to Freeze. Apparently they backed off and wound up with the guy from Boise.

Haslam "hitched the wagon" to Phil to "fix it." Phil is a great Vol, lousy AD, good ol' boy extraordinare, legacy Vol, and super outta touch.

If you look at the Browns leadership issues as an indicator....... Haslam is.....uh..... well, just look for yourself.

Phil is on auto-PILOT. Telling old Vol war stories over good Scotch in the clubhouse after rounds at the Honors course with Jim, likely letting him win. Phil is insulated in a skybox on game day, seldom needs to do a presser, and cashing mega-checks.

Reality.

By the way, I wanted Mack Brown when they hired Pruitt. He had a natty, and he is a man of integrity. Obviously he didn’t get a sniff but maybe we can wait 1 more year and get Tom Herman or Jim Harbaugh if it doesn’t get a lot better. Right now there is no one available that is better than those I just mentioned. Kyle Whittingham would have been a great hire as well but now he would cost 40-50 mil plus the current staffs buyout, so around 60-70 mil.
That’s not happening.

Post the proof that Harbaugh or Herman is better than Freeze. Why do you think those two, who have no SEC experience, would be better than a guy who has beaten the best of the best in the SEC? Your continued nonsense is mind numbing. And you need to stop with the you have sat down with SEC coaches.

The only reason for that was because of Bruce Pearl. We are not in that situation. Not even close.

They were never getting Freeze... He clearly didn’t want the job.

What about Sweet Sixteen Jerry Green?? Buzz Ball??

Rick Barnes is the favorite coach of people who didn’t watch a lick of basketball until coach Barnes showed up. It was the same at Texas. At least at Texas he had a final four to show for it. Meanwhile 3 of the 5 coaches who preceded Barnes have made a sweet sixteen so I’m not seeing what Barnes is doing that’s so special. Not to mention Jerry got run off with a way better winning percentage than Barnes. So funny how that deacon act works so well on unserious people.

I think a lot of people look at Freeze from two perspectives... I tend to believe that because he has gotten in trouble in the past we're probably in good shape to hire him because I don't see him risking a second chance by cheating that would finish his career for good...

The other side of the coin is... he has cheated and because of that will probably do it again.

I do not pretend to know what he would or wouldn't do here. However, because of his past I have zero reason to believe our administration would ever hire him even though I'd love them to.

How many of you actually knew who Coastal Carolina was 2 months ago?

Pumping up a win by one Google team over a another Google team lends credence to my assumption that most of you are band wagon fans. You are failing to understand that the coaches with the best players win the most.
Hugh had the best players last night by far, 16 P5 transfers that were exiled from their original team. Coastal had a bunch of guys that couldn’t walk on at UT so I would argue that CC had the best coach.

Freeze was a decent coach at Ole Miss (7-5) when he had decent players. He was a really good coach (9-4, 10-2) when he had great players. Great players win games and great coaches win championships. Hugh won games but zero championships, not even a division title. He is not a great coach, he is a decent coach with baggage.

How's he not yet ready to lead a team in the SEC? You do realize he's done that already. You do realize he accomplished a few things in the toughest division in football that we haven't in over a decade, right? You do realize his offenses put up crazy points as well don't you?

I don't give a mule's hind leg what personal mistakes he's made in the past. I also don't care about the recruiting violations at Ole Miss. We apparently have those now and can't do ANYTHING. Might as well get a guy who can score some points and give us a shot to do something.

I sure hope you bet the house on Liberty last night then seeing as how they had way better talent and were 7 point underdogs. But of course you didn’t bet a dime because this is complete BS.

I am not against hiring Freeze because anything would be better than what we currently have. But I did not see anything last night that impressed me that he would be a solution to our current situation. I am somewhat impressed that he took the players in his program and turned it into the best team in program history.

The strategy made sense but it shows the kind of stuff that happens when you try to get 11 guys to all do something completely foreign to them. I think if he had it to do all over again, he’d just take a knee.

Seriously? So just looking at his offense showed nothing impressive? What do you need to see then?

Jerry Green might be the worst coach in the history of UT athletics. The team won in spite of him.

Jesus Christ man, you would have hired Kevin Sumlin. I mean he has beaten the best of the best. Do a little research and find a good coach with no baggage and prop him up instead of this decent coach with too much baggage. And by the way, I have sat in 7 SEC head coaches’ office listening to their sales pitch. Like most parents, my wife and I advised our son to choose his college based on several factors including what kind of a man he wanted to work his a$$ off for.

If not for the poor officiating he would have lost that game. Chadwell’s offense was just as impressive. You are right about the offense after what we have been subjected to this year.

I would take Herman or Fickell in a heartbeat over Freeze. Whole lot less baggage.

crazy thing was, the RB did it properly just the play before. He knew what to do and had already done it...he just screwed up.

That RB was the happiest guy in the post-game locker room, for sure lol
