There are as good or better options out there for UT if we fire Pruitt. The NCAA is out to get Freeze because of his previous misdeeds. We don’t need that heat.

No doubt Tennessee probably doesn’t need the heat.

Not sure there are “many” better options out there. Not saying you said that because you didn’t. But he has proven he can win early, beat good teams, and knows O......Tennessee desperately needs those things.

Also my main complaint was “pedestrian”
His record certainly didn’t set the world on fire. But he took over a 2-10 team in led them to their best 3 year stretch in over 50 years..... that’s really good........considering the situation.

I just desperately want Tennessee to get a coach that has proven they can win and do it early......no more it takes years. And one that has proven they “can” beat some of the better teams.

Exactly what Mullen, Dabo, and the like will be doing if they ever hear they have to recruit against Freeze. It will be that easy.

However good you feel Hugh was at Ole Miss, he would be a shell of his old self in the recruiting arena of the SEC.

So the truth is nonsense? I know for a fact that SEC coaches are ruthless yet professional as I have sat with them in my home. They give you the positives of their program and the baggage of the opponent’s program. It’s just how it is. Hugh can probably coach with the best, but in the recruiting battles he will be a one legged man in an a$$ whipping contest.

By the way, I wanted Mack Brown when they hired Pruitt. He had a natty, and he is a man of integrity. Obviously he didn’t get a sniff but maybe we can wait 1 more year and get Tom Herman or Jim Harbaugh if it doesn’t get a lot better. Right now there is no one available that is better than those I just mentioned. Kyle Whittingham would have been a great hire as well but now he would cost 40-50 mil plus the current staffs buyout, so around 60-70 mil.
That’s not happening.

If we beat Bama and lost to all those teams in the same season I'm calling that season a success and calling for an extension.

Assuming that loss to 6+ loss TN keeps Bama out of the playoffs.

Beating BAMA is great, haven’t done it lately, but to beat them and barely go .500 after or during, is asinine

Freeze sits at 5 star recruit’s kitchen table and tries to sale ‘make TN great again’ campaign to recruit and his parents. They are intrigued and talking it over.

The next day or the next week Saban, Kirby, or Dabo sits at the same kitchen table and they will remind the parents and the recruit of Hugh’s past. They will say something like “do you really want to turn your son over to a man that had escorts for his players at Ole Miss”?

The parents are the ones you have to win over and Freeze will lose every battle for the blue chip recruits. So yes, he will get the rejects and the ones that couldn’t cut it at other P5 schools. But like I said, that lineup can beat Coastal Carolina (barely) but it will get crushed against the big dogs.

Like I said, they may do that the first go around... but if Hugh wins, that won’t matter. You can hold on to whatever pipe dream you want but winning sales more than gossiping to a teenage kids parents. These coaches negatively recruit regardless but it gets harder to negatively recruit a winning coach.

Whether he is better than Pruitt is obvious. Many here are
talking like he is a Football God when it comes to coaching and it is simply not the case. He is definitely not worth the trouble to bring him here and the certain NCAA harassment that UT will have to endure.

He’s not a football god but he is a perennial 9-10 win game coach. Something Tennessee hasn’t had in over a decade... so where is the issue? LSU has the NCAA so far up their butthole from basketball and football title IX allegations and they’re doing just fine. You act like Freeze would cause an SMU scenario and Tennessee is already accomplishing that without the NCAA’s help. Screw it, send it and hire the guy.

The opportunity costs in merchandising of an apathetic or embarrassed fan base is worth even more.
