The Pruitt statements after we hired him if delivered to the press are political and could be interpreted that way. Saban wanting Napier to come back to help him in his program has more merit IMO.

I see. Yeah, OSU rebounded but OSU has been a VERY VERY good place to recruit since..... I dunno..... 1925? (Kidding..... but forever)

That cheating occurred at OSU was dumb from the getgo and unneeded and the result of the worst coaching/AD work. Urban didn't need to repair much there but he needed to return to the roots of recruiting the hell outta the midwest, which he did, and providing an offensive strategy that outclassed the B1G. Great coach.

Those guys trees aren’t doing very well at the P5 level. Napier has done a bang up job where he’s at.. a place with zero pressure and only the local news paper covering you daily. Knoxville is a completely different animal... he’s unproven whether he can handle being under that microscope and the expectations associated with it. How many championship contenders has he beaten? I’m not against Napier at all but you’re counting chickens before they hatch. He’s a good hire, not a slam dunk. Doesn’t mean he couldn’t turn out to be one though.

And I keep telling you that Freeze only beat Bama when he had 5 star recruits. How he got them matters though and there is a high possibility that how he got them will be the reason he will never get them again. Without those recruits he can’t beat the big boys. I could be wrong, I have said that, but to pretend that he could recruit like he did in 2013 is at worst a pipe dream, at best just a dream.

You don’t think Saban wants Pruitt back to run his defense lol? Pruitt will be out of work for the day it takes Sexton to draw up the contract. That will make the third time Saban brought Pruitt back...

You simply mean better in record.

That doesn’t necessarily mean “better.”

Freeze took over a 4-8 Arkansas State team and in his first year they went 10-3

Freeze took over a 2-10 Mississippi team and in his first year they went 7-6

Saying one is better is very subjective. However to “me” the totality of Freeze is better.

To be fair he had to cheat big to get players at Ole Miss... Nobody bats an eye when Tennessee is in the Top 10 in recruiting so the University itself makes it easier to recruit outside the lines. Pruitts managed to piss off his own university to the point they’re leading this charge, Not the NCAA lol.

I remember all the clamoring for strong and Sumlin. They were the same level as we hired. Get Freeze period while you have the chance. Pay for Muschamp or Chizlik as a DC. Freeze will allow them to coach. Then hell make a run at Malzhan as OC. If UT football finally wants to compete with the Big Boys and make the money it can then start making big boy hires instead of nickel and diming over and over

I am not suggesting we hire him just that he may be available in the near future. He does have success at the NFL level and at two prestigious P5 programs. While his job at Michigan didn’t bring titles, one could argue comparing his record there vs Freeze at Ole Miss, Harbaugh’s is better. IMO he never had a QB at Michigan to get over the hump. The job he done at Stanford and the 49ers when they both were bad suggest he could be someone worth looking at.

My uncle has been been best friends with Hugh since childhood. They coached together at Lambuth. He’s saying that Hugh told him he was offered the Auburn job but turned it down. Says Hugh thinks he’s going to get the Tennessee job.

It’s as solid as a source as I could think of. I just would t be surprised if Hugh was FOS about being offered the Auburn job.

Why would it be hard to believe that Auburn offered Freeze? They want to win.
