I find myself rooting frantically for the Vols at every turn, but am as frustrated as Bob Hope trying to pull his pants over his pee bag with our abysmal staff and their repeated "just good enough" seasons.

CPF & Co. do just enough to keep our mediocrity accepting administration from canning them. It's tough for me to support CPF given the backslide we've seen, but I am hardwired to root for the Vols. I almost don't know how to approach Vol football right now. I love some of the talent at hand and love to see them execute, but I want change at the helm. No 2 ways about it, this staff needs to move on IMO, but how do we get there without another disastrous season?

It's definitely a dilemma.

This coaching staff has had a number of great accomplishments, and they've brought trophies home to Knoxville...but there's a lot of dust on those trophies.

I just can't imagine how it can ever be acceptable for the University of Tennessee to go a decade without an SEC Championship. This is not Arkansas, Ole Miss, or Kentucky...just making the drive to Atlanta every few years isn't enough...you've got to drive back with a trophy from time to time.

Hope we get there with this staff, then they retire on top and we move on. This way it is a much wanted job and we can hire a top young coach and not go through what Nebraska, Miami, Alabama, etc.. are going through with multiple coaching changes and failures. No matter what ALWAYS root FOR the Vols. Go Big Orange!

Don't worry BPV. There could very well be that disastrous season next year.

This is why CFB is so great, we cheer, root, agonize our way through the fall. Then when were almost to the breaking point, it's over.

Then in August we start all over.

I will say that, in a weird way, I'm kind of glad that Fulmer will be back next year.

With all of the big-time openings in college football this year, and with what seems to be a shortage of big-time available candidates, it didn't seem like a good offseason for us to make a coaching change.

ive never read a post of yours that had a resigned tone to it, but i do agree with it. the highlighted part is the philosophy we should all have. and hope the rest gets worked out....

:eek:lol:
Thanks for that mental image, BPV. I really needed a laugh. It's good to see that some people can keep their sense of humor despite the frustration.

Ah i feel the same way. I'am tired of all the whatiff's and premature raises being handed out for rather mediocre seasons. Tired of being everyone's measuring stick or whipping boy which ever way works for you. Tired of losing to our rivals and even more tired of losing to them badly. No conference championship since 98 thats almost ten years now. Tired of finishing in the back half or totally out of the polls. Tired of phil clapping when a player makes a bonehead mistake. 2 sec championships in now 16 years should be enough said. Should also be enough for us to start looking at alternative options to this mediocrity that has become tennessee football.

Im with you on this one. As much as Id like to see a change as well...it may very well be a blessing that Fulmer pulled a rabbit out of this one. There are so many BIG coaching opportunities, it would have put us in a long line of people looking for the next top dog.

I know this has been talked about often, but I am excited about some of our young talent as I have been in a long time. They appear to be growing up very quickly and carry a swaggar that we havent seen from freshman here in a while. Although I could do without Austin Rogers, I see our recievers starting to "get it".

I dont want to be the stupid fan who expects a NC or a conference championship every year... i know there are other 116 teams fighting for it... So will i accept a 9 - 3 season... well given our conference i would accept that once in a while... i dont want to be that mediocre fan who accepts any winning season.. we are TENNESSEE and we play with a pride...

I dont want to accept the 9 - 3 season this year... not this year given our pathetic losses where we quit playing midway... and i dont want count the victories that needed external help...

Let us count the quality victories... we beat UGA and arkansas... 2 teams with talent... USC..kentucky.. vandy.. miss state were all too close and i dont consider them a quality vicory...

we are not the dominant team once we were... i hate to be sittin scared at the edge of my seat watching a game against arkansas state or vandy... how is that we are top 5 in recruiting almost every year but not the top team...

I very much respect CPF... he has been a good coach and a gr8 ambassador for UT... but i would like to have a new coach... a coach that would bring in more talent and a coach that would be innovative... we have a young team and i think this would be a good time to transition... just my opinion

as always, its proud to be a tennessee vol!!! go vols!!
