Huepel on Finebaum

I think perhaps you're conflating exposure and relevance.

He's about as relevant as, say, Dave Chappelle is to immigration reform legislation.

Does Chappelle talk about immigration? Sure.

Do a lot of people watch Chappelle? Sure.

Does anyone pay even the slightest attention to his position on the issue? No. He's not relevant to the national conversation.

Neither is Finebaum in the world of football. He's merely the crowd noise murmuring in the background while the real conversations happen elsewhere.

Serious journalists like Chris Low contribute far more of meaning to the league and the sport than Finebaum. Again, unless you're one of his regulars, then Paul might rock your world.

I never said finebaum was a serious journalist. I just said he's the number 1 talking head in the SEC. He has all the coaches, all the officials, all the AD's, all of everyone that's SEC on his show and he's on the flagship network for the conference. Nobody else is remotely close to that footprint. Football is entertainment, most casual fans don't care about "meaning". He's literally the SEC Football Talk Show. The only one. It's relevant
