Akron game showed continued concern/issues for defense. Offensive struggles in redzone need to be fixed. But in context, it doesn't really change the view on UGA-UT.

TN has to play well in Athens. Can't give up big plays.

Biggest concern offensively from Akron is not finishing drives.

Have to find Jarvis Jones (most disruptive defensive player in SEC)...cannot let him get to Bray. Must keep tabs on him every play.

Tough game for UT...and will have to scrap to have any rushing success.

Ran the ball well enough against UF...must make UGA respect the run to pass downfield. (had negative yards rushing in redzone against Akron).

UT struggles with blitz pickup. Must communicate better. Must ID proper pickups and open receivers.

Bray was hit more by Akron's defense than by UF's.

UT won't continue to use 3 guys in Wildcat formations. AJ will keep that role. Justin King has run it effectively and can make right reads.

Chaney has to make a commitment to run the football and rotate new guys in early to not wear out CP and Hunter. 70 snaps is too many, but you don't want them off the field too much.

Bray needs to handle himself better...but teammates act like they aren't fazed by his demeanor.

Bray needs to keep himself in check b/c his emotions weigh on how he plays.

Its all up to Bray whether we win this game or not.. His success/leadership will fuel the rest of the team.

I don't think that's necessarily the case. If their pass-rush is in his face all day, he won't have the opportunity to put it on his shoulders. Also, we can't let that RB continue his crazy ypr stats.

MORE:

Experienced O-line should help, but Tiny hasn't been in this environment before. He needs to get settled as he is the biggest concern.

Bray needs to show maturity and make sure everyone is on the same page...if he needs to slow down to make sure they are, then that's what he needs to do.

This game isn't any more meaningful to Dooley (b/c of UGA connection) than the others. The loss at Baton Rouge was the most meaningful.

UF didn't out adjust UT in the 2nd half...but UF did motion things that UT didn't react to and the game got away from UT. UGA will try to get UT out of balance.

UT has to play a complete 2nd half to compete in Athens and they haven't shown that. Has to have better mentality than the last 2 years.

UGA will have success running, but UT must respect the play action. This is Richt's calling card.

If they can't stop the run, then UT has no chance.

UT safeties must understand and recognize the play action. UT will sell out to stop the run, but must limit big plays in the passing game.

Defense has had no success getting to QB.

If you want to get to Murray, then you need to blitz. If you blitz, you are leaving your corners on an island. Double edged sword.

UT needs Maggitt to get to the QB, but have had issues getting off of blocks.

Bray touches the football more than any other player on the UT roster in the game. I am just saying that how he reacts to adversity will either fuel the team or destroy it like the Florida 4th qtr. Also, our front 7 will stop the ypr stats. I am more worried about what that kid can do on special teams...

The VOLS will take this game infinitely more seriously than Akron. Zach Stacy(Vandy) had success running the ball on Georgia. I do not think he is a great player, not bad, just ok. Vandy does not have a good O line. The vols should be able to run for around 130 maybe with a few gimmick runs. This is just enough to keep the defense honest Georgia will come into the game not respecting the run. Hopefully Bray and Co. can make this one happen. It is not impossible. Georgia will be overconfident. they know even if they lose, they can still be in Atlanta

For us to have a chance we have to limit their running game. If we can make them one dementional this game will be ours.

I honestly believe thats what we will do . Remember these guys are freshman. They have yet to face a front 7 like ours. They will make freshman mistakes.. But this is all hopeful talk.

FWIW, this is the kind of thread that I enjoy. It is informative and promotes good discussion. It is much better that the rah rah "sunshine pumping" or senseless negative rants by people who just have an agenda to get Dooley fired. Good job guys.

I think we are much better suited to stop UGAs running game over FLA. UF has more athletes in the backfield, putting Burton in motion. Murray isn;t as much of a runner as Driskel, great scrambler, but I don't see them running read option type plays. They want to run between the tackles. We ate UF alive between the tackles until they started freezing our LBs with the motion plays. If UGA lines up and runs right at us, McCullers could have his best game of the year. If we can get UGA in multiple third and longs, we stand a great chance of holding them to under 20 points, which I think is enough for us to win.

In other words, UT has to play an almost flawless game to have a chance. Does anyone beleive that this coaching staff can get the players ready to play a flawless game on the road against the #5 team in the nation?

Flawless? Jesus, they are UGA. Have you watched them? Missouri looked like they were going to win until JJ made 2 huge individual plays to take over the game. We don't have to play flawless. What we do have to do is play THROUGH our flaws. The pressure of this game should be 100% on UGA, but the fire Dooley now and bench Bray crowds may switch that. We have enough talent to beat UGA. They are less athletic at CB than UF, less talented at D line and less athletic in their offensive backfield(slightly). They are a good, solid team, but very unproven. They haven't played a team with as much talent as us this year. We have played a team with comparable talent, outplayed them for nearly 3 quarters and then beat ourselves with dropped passes, missed tackles and loss of confidence. This game is a perfect recipe for an upset, and any UGA fan who isn't worried hasn't been a fan of CFB or the SEC very long.

Wild assumption.

I agree, UGA has been highly ranked and beaten too many times to be overconfident. But I do believe that their ranking still plays to our favor if we can get ahead. The pressure of being highly ranked can make individual players timid, not wanting to be the one to make a mistake, especially if we can hit them in the mouth early.

How's their kicking game?

I'm not being funny, I think this will be a close game. UGA isn't into the hocus pocus style of play. They're gonna line up and come right at us, which IMO is what our D is best suited to play against. Brodus had a good game last week, but I can't get the missed XP against UF and the shanked 27 yarder in the O/W game out of my mind. If its close I just don't wanna see this come down to special teams.

Totally unacceptable.

Yeah I saw that. That is rather troublesome. Another thing that I think has been VASTLY overlooked was how many times Akrons QB missed a WIDEOPEN WR. Several times he did so on 3rd down. And it seemed to be 8-9 times this happened. Even decent QB play for Akron and we might have lost.

Question for OP. How do you remember all that by listening to him on the radio? lol

Great info. Thanks

Totally disagree ..........I would say its more up to Sunseri and his defense. We have played two decent teams and have given up a total of 962 yards of offense between the two . This simply can not continue to happen. Sunseri must come up with an answer , if we are to beat any of the next 4 teams on our schedule
