...we win out the regular season and go to the SECCG this year? Please, lets not discuss whether or not we will win out, but IF we do.

Would that accomplishment sufficiently offset the agony of getting our clocks cleaned by the gators and tide? Or will those losses taint your view of the season regardless of how we finish?

What if we win the SEC rather than just make the SECCG?

Personally, winning the SEC outright would go a long way to ease the pain of being humiliated a couple of times... but I think I'd still harbor resentment for those beatings. Its hard to get over being embarrassed like that... but I would be much more optimistic about our future under Fulmer if we win another championship.

Winning it would make a big difference but not sure how just getting there would go over. I'd love to go to Atl and get to cheer them on again though.

If we go, no. If we win, maybe not. . . there will be a bowl game afterward.

OK, lets say by the grace of God we win out, period. That would be 11-3 with a BCS bowl win and top 10 ranking...

I think at that point I could live with our current losses... which I guess helps prove how difficult it will be to get over those beatings.

It would help ease the pain, while proving to the rest of the nation the SEC was not nearly as strong as everyone thought.

I could live with phil, if he surrounded himself in the offseason with the best assistants in the country and not the good ol boy we went to high school together so you must be able to coach too disease.

At this point I think either Fulmer is holding back his assistants or they are holding him back. I would like to know which.

if that were to happen, that would go along way in my book.....a team that starts off as poorly as we did to finish like that as conf. champs and a BCS bowl win.....you then have to talk about how he finished strong and got the team together etc, etc, etc.....would deserve a lot of credit IF that were to happen.

Coaches and players both

That would work for me as well.

Everyone on here says they expect SEC titles but then says reg season losses matter more? Doesn't matter how you get the banner

True. But taking it with no lube from your two biggest rivals tends to hurt

A bowl win is a must for this coaching staff regardless of how this team ends the season

Agreed on both counts. I just think I would trade a loss to UF for an SEC champ any day. I'm still not sure on a bama loss...

An SEC title would do a lot to erase the embarrassment of being beat by our rivals for about a month. But the result of the BCS game would go a long way to determining how I feel about the season. If we got embarrassed there too, obviously we would all be upset. But if we lost by a touchdown to a team we obviously wouldn't match up well against like say West Virginia or Oregon, I guess I would be ok with just winning the title. And of course an SEC title and a BCS win would be great and no one would have any reason to complain.

I think you have to wait and see how that scneario unfolds and who you play and how it goes, etc. Simply saying that you will be "happy" if you win the SECE, or the SECCG, or a bowl.... too many variables in that.

In other words, it depends ...

winning the SEC this year would be reason to be happy.

i don't think anyone would realistically be "upset". there may be a few "yeah buts" when discussing the season when it's over......in regards to FL and Bama, but a title is a title.

No it doesn't. An SEC title is an SEC title. A bowl win is a bowl win. The way UT started this season makes me sick. If they finished it with an SEC title and a BCS Bowl win (that's more important to me the bowl win) than this season can be considered a success. I would not trade an SEC title and a BCS bowl win for wins against Bama and UF this season.

yeah, it would only "depend" if you don't hold the SEC title with any regard. i think every team in the league does hold it in high regard, and is always a big deal.

afterall, it is the goal of any season to win the conf.

you just don't imagine doing it after losing like we did to our biggest rivals......hence the question.

Depends on whether we were to win the SECCG or not. You play to win championships. Win the game, and 100-37 are just two bad memories.

Just getting there, however, wouldn't mean that much. The division as a whole is way down this year, and it's obvious we're not a very good football team. Winning all the tiebreakers in a crappy division is not exactly what you set out to accomplish.

It would be quite ironic losing to 'bama and florida but winning a championship... of course odds of that are still very slim in my mind.

Right, and I do think you have a pretty good shot to win the SECE this year, even if you lose to either Arky or Kentucky. I just don't think that, if in fact you do win the East, you have much chance against either LSU or 'bama in the SECCG, especially LSU.

It will be fun to visit VN if you guys end up playing 'bama. The week before such a game there will be some pretty interesting threads, I suspect. If its LSU, I think it will be a week-long funeral dirge.

That is true.
