I have lived in Georgia most of my life, and am pretty attuned to the high school football down here. I also have 2 law partners who are boosters at UGA. I get alot of UGA knowledge whether I want it or not. I have also had the chance to watch both of their games this year and this is what I see:

1. If we can STOP THE RUN, we have a chance to beat them, provided we do not turn the ball over;
2. Gunner Stockton does not seem to be a bad QB, but I am not sure he is Stetson Bennett 2.0 either (with Stetson Bennett, after I had seen him play a few times, I would tell anyone who listened not to underestimate him). I am not there with Gunner, he can move and isn't a statute or anything but he's not as fast as Bennett, also it's yet to be proven that he can read defenses in an environment such as Neyland, our fans need to bring their A game Saturday (that our fans will step up appropriately is the thing I am most certain about);
3. Their running backs look legit, but they haven't played anybody; Frazier (#3) is back from last year and so is third down back Cash Jones, but they have two redshirt freshman (# 33 and # 20) who have looked the best so far, if I am Heupel I load the box to stop these guys and make Stockton prove he can beat us downfield with Neyland going nuts;
4. Their defense looks better than last year, their linebacker play is very good; again they haven't played anybody but they've also been really vanilla so far with their scheme but nonetheless have given up few yards and few points in either outing. They pretty much have stuffed both opponents to like 50-75 yards total with their starters and then the backups come in the fourth and give up 100-150 more. I suspect we are going to see some exotic blitzes dialed up Saturday that they haven't put on film, it will be a welcome to the SEC moment for Joey, I honestly feel better about our chances with Joey playing his first SEC game than if Nico had come back for Year 3 though;
5. We must get a turnover or two, and cash it in for 6, which leads back to the crowd and stopping the run.

ALL TOLD, I say 24-17 Vols, and the end of 8 years of frustration against bowl cut.

CJH will need to outcoach CKS. That's how we win.
And while I like Heup, Kirby is a better coach m- esp. making in game adjustments.

The OP made a good point about GA Defense. They are talented and offense was horrible after the half. The get pressure and the blitzes usually confuse our offense.

We must be able to run the ball. If not, we will lose by two scores. And, we must have one or two splash plays to Matthews or one of our other receivers. Make UGA defend the entire field.

The Ankle Biters have shown some weakness in their secondary, and their run game wasn’t up to Snarling Chihuahua standards against Marshall.

Keep the pedal to the metal on offense. If the Vols get a lead extend it again and again. If up by three scores with mere seconds on the clock, try student body left and score once more.

Get them off balance and keep ’em that way. Let their pain and frustration grow and fester for 60 minutes. Let them hurt, grow numb, and hurt again. When they do something stupid (as they’re wont to do), score more points.

To quote Lawrence of Arabia, Pound them, Charlie! Pound them!

Here are the box scores for both of their games. I am telling you the starting defense hasn't given up hardly anything. Their defense is good, if we were going to play them in Sanford (where they'd have crowd noise on top of the talent), I think it would be too much, but we can move it in Neyland some I think, and need a few turnovers. Their offense has been much shakier looking than the defense. Like I said, make Stockton prove he can read a defense with stadium shaking around him. Not sure he can.

We have beat or played very close first half’s. Our coaching staff MUST be able to adjust to what they bring in the second half. And have some wrinkles put in on our part as well. That’s really been the difference since Heup has been here (not including 2 years ago), that was the best UGA team top to bottom and we was Meh.

Since 2017, we have played them alot closer in Athens than here. Here in Knoxville, for whatever reason they have beat us up pretty bad both halfs.

In 2017, we were down 24-0 in halftime when the boo birds came out in force for Butch;
In 2019, we were down 26-14 at the half;
In 2021, we were down 24-10 at the half; and
In 2023, we were down 24-10.

We need to be leading or within 3 points at halftime Saturday.

1. Win early downs - get Georgia into 3rd and long situations- get of the field. Can’t let Georgia convert over 30% on 3rd downs

2. Big plays on offense- will need at least 2-3 big play scores on offense to win the game.

3. Turnovers- cannot let Georgia win the turnover game

4. Control the tempo- put pressure on Georgia to have to throw the ball - a quick start on offense and defense- get an early lead and keep the pressure on.
