1) With essentially an off-week playing ULL, we slow down McFadden and Jones enough to beat Arkansas confortably.
2) Vandy will be a struggle but we win as they have already won their once in 25 years over UT in 1985.
3) We beat Kentucky in an offensive shootout, reminescense of Manning vs Couch. This secures us a place on Dec 1 in Atlanta. Thus saving Coach Fulmer his job. (And rightly so IMO).
4) We lose to LSU in the SEC championship.
5) We win a second tier Bowl game (Capital One, Outback, Chick-fil-a etc.)
6) Hamilton puts pressure on Fulmer to fire Chavis, which he refuses to do and Fulmer gracefully retires. This likely happens before the bowl game.

arkansas is a terrible match-up for UT. The run defense is horrible. UT has the longest winning streak in Div 1 against Kentucky. Two killer games.

1) Doubt it.
2) They are approaching 25 years again.
3) Not even willing to bet either way and Fulmer no longer deserves his job. See below for more information.
4) Doubt we make it
5) Third tier
6) yes, no, no

Fulmer deserves to be head coach like Miss Teen South Carolina deserves to be President.

we cant consider any game an "off week." Vandy played SC alot better than we did. we also seem to have been coming up pretty short in our offensive shootouts, also. Dixon ate us for lunch at MSU, so i dont see why McFadden wont have us for dinner. we will win some of these games, but we will probably lose some too, im afraid.

Actually, I think the South Carolina was our toughest game to get past because of their coach. We don't match up well against Meyer, Saban or Spurrier. I think Arkansas lost their offensive guru in Gus Malzhan and I'm not worried about Joker Phillips or Randy Sanders out coaching us.

IF that game is meaningful, can you imagine how many times we will hear that going into that game?

One game at a time. I don't see any remaining SEC game as a gimme. Vols need to improve each week to have a chance.

Look guys, I'm no Fulmer fan, but this is the same staff that won the national championship in 98. We were handed some breaks that year just as this year. There is no reason to believe we can't win the SEC East now. Enjoy it as there may be some leaner years to come.

I appreciate the optimism rockydoc. All of what you said COULD happen. I think KY is our toughest game left. All the others are home games that, while Vandy and AR will be close, we SHOULD come out on top. KY worries me. They're tired of losing to TN and this year they may actually have the team to win. Plus, it's at KY and we all know what our record is like on the road. No matter how you look at it, the ball is once again in TN's court. They could win out and play in the SEC CG against 1 of 3 teams IMO, Bama, LSU and Auburn. Sure, LSU's the fav to get there from the West, but after this season, there's no way anyone can count anyone out.

This team is such a mystery right now. Expectations will be to win out and win the East, but I could honestly see us losing two of our last four (Ark. and Ken.)

When has Tennessee ever controlled and Fullfilled its own destiny under Fulmer.

The 1998 Season and NC rested on a fumble and mishandled punt by ARK. I call that Devine Intervention, the players did too. That is College Football you need it sometimes. The NC game was played by FSU with their 3rd string QB.

The 98 team was destine and did fullfill it but.............with some outside help

Still it was a team of heart soul and Talent and most deserving of the NC.

We have not crawled our way back into the SECCG or East Race. We have prayed our way back into it.

Be careful what you ask for you just might get it. The National Exposure we would Get from the SECCG against LSU could be a Win Lose Game not for the team but for the Program.

I'm just trying to be objective. I had said earlier that the best thing for the program would have been to gone 2-10 or whatever it would take to effect a coaching change so let's see how it plays out.:ermm:

One game at a time. And I shouldn't be saying this, but if for some reason we do make it to the SEC-CG, our best shot is getting an Alabama game.

If our team can get up for revenge then...

So...I am gonna pull for TN to win...even if it is ugly. And will pull for Bama in the west.

You lost me there, man. No way would I ever cheer for TN to lose. Let's win them out, win the SEC CG and win our bowl, even if it does mean Fulmer will be around for another year.

Saban will beat Fulmer again, just as Tubby did in 04. Living in Alabama I can't take it anymore.:cray:

We are in a predicament. It will be hard to fire a coach with 8-10 wins a year. It will be like the movie "Groundhog Day" where we wake up ever year to have a team in the 20-25 national ranking or "also receiving votes" group but never contending for the national championship. If we are continue to have a middle of the road program I say hire a coach for $500,000 instead of 2 million and lower the d@#8 ticket prices!!

Leaner years then this decade?

I knew this would come up sooner or later. I just have one question. Would you rather have UT "pray" their way back into it or would you rather see UF or UGA "pray" their way into it. I don't care how UT gets to Atl just as long as they go

What you fail to understand this is not about FL or GA It is about UT Football and RESPECT.

So continue to keep your fingers crossed wanting others to fall from Grace so that we can be the SEC Champions of the years past based on somebody elses demise.

Lets put a Team and Coach a Team that Earns Respect and is Feared. Not one that wins it by Default.

My last worry is FL GA and what happens to them when we are well coached and play to our potential. Identify our problems and Fix them. Not the other teams.

These players have heart talent and Soul. This is not a reflection of their effort or their willingness to give it their all.

Plus you must have Tickets to the SECCG thats worth crossing your fingers for.

How is anyone confident we will beat Arkansas this year? The same player that made us his bitch is back this year in McFadden. How are we markedly improved over last year on D??? All they have to do is the Wildcat package, and Chavis will be lost, again.
