Just did some travelling in Florida, Alabama, Louissianna, and California -- all places that have a vested interest in the status of our beloved Vols and our new coach. Got into conversations with people at each place, and the overwhelming concensus is that CLK is an unqualified, in over his head idiot whose mouth is writing checks his coaching skills won't be able to match. While people here are glad we have a coach who's not afraid to talk trash, people elsewhere think he's a goofball. Then throw in the people in CA, who also say he has no integrity/character.

Of course, I would love nothing more than to shove all of this back at them, especially the people in Florida and Alabama, and I hope that what we do on the field this fall settles the matter once and for all. I just find it interesting what a minority we're in while nationwide everyone thinks we hired a bafoon.

There were hordes of people saying Nick Saban was a liar and a bad coach and wouldn't last 2 years at Bama. The same people said Urban Meyer's system had no chance of working in the SEC. I wouldn't worry about it.

That is about right as far as older fans perception. I talk SEC sports often at work with Administrators and such (I am a teacher) and all the older guys are convinced we will have our worse season ever and Kiffin does not know what he is doing. Younger guys are much more reasonable one in fact is a gator fan but a good guy and he admits this is interesting and could bring us back. All the others are UGA fans so if we are back guess who is done? When we are up those GA recruits in North Georgia will be considering Tennessee every year.

The joke will be on all of them come September. Kiffin knows what he's doing. If he wasn't doing the right things, the Camps and Recruits we have had this month would never have came. The recruiting class he pulled together in three months is a testiment to the staff he's assembled. Also, the new breath of life he's put into the team and fans are at levels that they have never been at before. We are renewed, and it's all because of him. I'm a "I can show you better than I can tell you guy"". We'll be ok end the end and everyone else will have to eat crow.

hope so too. those idiots though wont accept that CLK is not a baffoon. instead, they will simply say that monte and coach O are the ones responsible for our revearsal of fortune....

Actually other than Bryce Brown, the other recruits are comparable to what we've always gotten. Tennessee will always be able to get good players. It's not like he shocked the world. Janzen Jackson did NOT have LSU ties. I don't get the recruiting thing to this point.

Yet all of them right now are saying Monte is washed up, and Coach O was a failure at Ole Miss, so he'll surely fail at UT...

Monte knows what he's doing. Coach O better NOT be the catylyst for this teams success. If his coaching is the deciding factor, we will have a new coach in 3 years.

Yeah, Tennessee really got some super players after 2005 and 2007.

again, i call them idiots. the point was not to bring light to what they are saying NOW, but rather what they will be saying LATER. everyone knows monte has been fantastic, and they may call him "washed up" now (which, who's saying this anyways?) but when we start winning people will say that hes bailing out his kid. as for O, everyone knows he can recruit. who actually thinks huston nutt is the reason for Ole Miss's quick turn-around? nobody wants to look past the losing record at oakland or what CLK has said about meyer, saban, and the whole communities of Pahokee and South Carolina, and therefore will find excuses for UTs success...

There's no way Fulmer would pull 2 commits away from UF and one commit away from LSU...he would've given up.

Everyone has down recruiting years, but we also had a top five class in 2007. This class is very lacking on offensive and defensive linemen. When I see QUALITY big uglies coming on board, I'll get on board with the whole these guys are the greatest recruiters of all time stuff.

And I guess being committed to LSU and living a short distance from Baton Rouge don't count as LSU ties.

Fulmer essentially didn't have a recruiting class following 2005.

Guys, Nukeese Richardson was not one of Floridas stud recruits. This argument is crazy. Also, as I said before, Janzen Jackson lived in LA. but was not from there. Not that big of a shock.

And neither was Marsalis Teague? Was Eric Gordon someone Bama didn't want? And yeah, 5-7 teams that haven't won the conference in a decade pull recruits from National Champions all the freaking time.

I've seen quite a few posts on ESPN.com say this from UGA, USCeast, Bama, and UF. I've heard a couple callers on the sportsanimal say this (some Vol fans, some not). That's about it. No one I know personally.

Everyone I know personally thinks Kiffin is doing a great job...Vol fan or not. I think that just proves that when people can hide behind a keyboard or a phone, they can turn really stupid.

Teague got slow played by the Gators and Gordon never commited to Bama. So exactly how did they accept.

Didn't Urban try to call Nukeese 20+ times during his visit to UT?

Right...Urban didn't want him...
