How the mighty have fallen.

See … here’s the problem. We don’t need to be worried about Kentucky because we suck as bad as them. Let’s worry about our team .

You completely missed the point….

A lot of Top ranked teams are going to lose to bad teams every year.

It just happens.

I don't think it is as much a fall as it is an awareness and understanding late season that Tennessee isn't as talented as the record may have indicated along the way, nor are those big wins in the Bahamas, Kansas isn't a dominant team this year, the success against Texas was fully offset by collapses against Colorado, Kentucky, Florida, Vanderbilt and trailing by 17 at home against Mizzou, only to rally back and blow a late 5 point lead at home.

Nice Barnes coached team, good kids, average basketball players, but no one who paid attention to how this team won ugly, but was prone to total collapses, expected any deep conference or NCAA tourney runs this this year.

Every now and then...sure.

This is becoming a trend. We've now lost 4 games that we had no business losing, 5 if you want to include UK. 3 of which are out of the last 4 games we've played. You can't just gloss over what's happened the last couple of weeks and chalk it up to things just happening. Something is off with this team.

The dude you replied to is full of excuses. He does it all the time and trolls people's posts making excuses. He'll disappear for a little while when he's really embarrassed. He reminds me of a HerrosHeros on Rupp Rafters.

Meh, we are still a great team and this a great era of Vol hoops. I still believe in this team. We are the same team we were, just have run into a rut. Will either be a turning point or we will limp home.

We made the tournament ONE time in my life (1989) between my 1st grade and senior year of college (1998). Y'all need to enjoy that we have a team good enough to get angry about. These guys can play and we have it in us to turn it around. Hate on Barnes etc all you want but careful what you wish for!
I understand the sentiment but there’s not one team in the SEC in the last 20 years that’s had a stretch like that. The difference now is the amount of money the conference as a whole is pouring into basketball. You can see it in the teams, facilities, and coaching hires. Yes-UT can certainly slide post-Barnes, but the donors and Danny White aren’t putting up with long-term failures.

111 posts in 14 years? You should post more, we need your kind of sensible logic around here.

I noticed something today that I had not noticed before during this season.
The MO coach showed confidence, stayed calm, continually praising and telling his players he believed in them, never panicked or verbally berated the officials. His players reflected his same demeanor and style. They could very well make a big run in the post season.

Hate to say it, but the team in orange and white showed the opposite today.

Just get back to the basics. Run simulated scores in practice with the game on the line, have everyone make free throws. Get them used to the pressure. Of course, you're going to miss every now and then. But, Vescovi looked like a deer in headlights.

If I was the coach, I'd look at game film and see where the weakness are, why we collapse ---and maybe focus on those things in practice. Maybe sit some players and let them come off the bench ? Maybe take something from the teams that beat you.
