How the heck did we beat Georgia 35-14?

AP national titles are legitimate. In this case, maybe moreso than the BCS. Any system that puts a team that loses its conference championship by 28 points into the championship game loses its credibility.

As for UT beating Jawja, as someone said earlier, we match up well with them. The team played exceptionally well, and the Dawgs had a bad day.

The matchups dictated a lot of results this year. The only team we beat that we didn't match up well with was Kentucky, and that was only by the skin of our teeth.

The NCAA recognizes a lot. If that's the measure your looking for then USC has actually won 4 National Titles in the last 6 years. You should raise your criteria or drop it altogether.

Past Division I-A Football National Champions

The website simply keeps track of a lot of polling organizations. There are really only 2 polls now that have any significance post bowl season.

What polls and says who?

Since 1998 the National Champ is crowned by the BCS. All other claims are whinners that didn't get their way.

So how did the VOLs beat the DAWGS?

To me it was simple. You guys came out fired up and inspired. Your coaching staff had its back against the wall and really showed up to win not just stay in the game. On the other hand we played flat out sloppy and uninspired. We got hit in the mouth and did not respond. Great win for you guys and as it turned out it was a good loss for us because it turned our season around.

It's a stretch to try and take that title away from USC. It's not a BCS title, but the AP is pretty stout.

very similar to your win over UF, except that we didn't have the silly little everybody sing kumbaya after the touchdown gimmick to provide any false motivation.

I dont think it was a gimmick or false motivation but a way to get our guys having fun and playing with emotion again. But hey.. whatever makes you feel better.

Everybody agrees to the BCS until they get left out. Looks like USC will cry into another "shared" title somehow this year.

The AP never agreed to tie their vote to the BCS...

And anyways, I doubt USC gets a share of the title.

I don't feel better, but had to take the jab.

The point was, our victory of your guys was very similar to yours over UF. Punched in the mouth and just never let up. Richt knew emotion was going to be a huge factor and forced the issue, correctly. The players going through with it wasn't the driver, the fact that they knew how much it meant to him made it work, imo.

UGA looked good last night. They'll likely finish the season between 2nd and 4th.

We sure spanked that team. How the heck did we do that?

Note: Thread idea acknowledgement goes to Vader!

Happy New Year Vols!
UGA played Hawaii last night! Of course UGA looked like the second coming.
