Yes, those coaching fantasies get tiresome this time of year, as do polarized positions of people on Butch, so good luck. But if you convince one or two you will have made progress.

I say we get an AD (cough) Blackburn (cough) before we go around hiring or firing anybody.

IMO if we get Mark Helfrich to RockyTop we get the next Mariota in JG.. this gets me more excited than anything.. Its way to early to say and I think Jarrett's accuracy needs to drastically improve but there could be some serious Heisman potential here down the road. We just need to cards to fall in place

Was dragging our feet on the AD opening a bad idea now or do you think the coming changes are set in stone already?

i would think you have to name an OC very soon. waiting would only scare off potential offensive recruits.
waiting could be damaging, announcing a hire (especially if it is a splash hire) could even sway some borderline recruits our way.

They will communicate to the recruits who they are trying to bring in... This may lure some recruits.

First realize…..They are not hiring an AD until the coaching changes have been made. The University is committed to giving Butch two more years. They don't want the new AD to be a part of the coaching changes have been made. If the moves prove not to be good then the new AD has no blood on his hands and came blame Dave Hart.

I agree with your line of thought. If it's a "splash hire", I think you announce it ASAP. If it's another Debord type hire, you wait until after NSD and try to spin it.

Note: I think Debord was on the low side of average as an OC while he was here.

the class is full. now they could run some off IF they got some high level recruits but they are kind of happy with what they have right now. they will continue to pursue those high level guys as well. Just nothing seems hot right now

I don't expect a lot more movement in the class so not sure Jones see's that as an issue with coaching changes. Word is all over the place as to when some changes may happen including, maybe not a lot.

Lot of people I speak with were surprised today on the DeBord move so lots could happen that has been quite or nothing could happen

I will say this, lot of important people don't believe waiting on AD until next month will impact Jones making whatever changes he wants to

You had posted that you thought Debord stayed as O.C. and Helfrich the QB coach, so does that change anything now that Debord gone?

Who makes the hire with no A.D.?

Wouldn't whoever is looking at taking the job want to know who the A.D. is?
