Basketball and Football recruiting are different beasts all together. I know a little about basketball recruiting but not as much as some on here. Is it harder for a Nike camp kid to come to UT than an Adidas camp kid?

i wouldnt think it really matters all that much seeing as how a check or stripes dont make you a better athlete. But in reality it matter to some.

I don't know if its "harder", because ultimately the kid can choose to go wherever he wants. However, I do feel that it makes a significant difference in the upper tier recruits. Scouts and recruiters have their eyes on these elite kids from 8th grade and up, and the "handlers" (I hate this term) of these young kids push them in one direction or another of sponsers and brands.

Sometimes I think the kids might not even realize it, but in a lot of cases I do believe it happens. So and so's AAU coach is now a Nike rep, and he has connections with such and such, and favors happen. Its unfortunate, but it goes on.

I had a feeling that it happens. ESPECIALLY in basketball. It would be interesting to see if the NCAA has a list of top 25 or 50 guys from year to year, where they camp or who their AAU coach has an affiliation with, and then the school they attend and what the contract is there.
