How many Super Bowls would Peyton have won with a Defense close to this D?

I say 5. Maybe more. Peyton never had much help on that side of the ball. Not the caliber of NE year in and out. And with a great Defense, Peyton would have gotten there more . This makes the Manning- Brady Comparison-----Moot IMO. And while I'm so happy for Peyton, I'm also kinda sad that it comes at the end; cause Peyton could hang with Cam a couple years back. We know he's limited now; so do opposing defenses.

A bunch.

Maybe equal to as many SECC as he would have won at UT if he had had Spurrier as HC and Bob Stoops as DC.

Indy should have beaten the Saints. Indy's defenses usually stepped it up in the postseason so its not like he played with terrible defenses. I agree that he would have probably 2-3. It sucks that he gets a defense this good at the end of his career.

I read where someone said what if he played for BB or the Pats. Here is a flip side to that coin, how many more SBs would Brady have if he had the offensive weapons Manning has had?

When Brady had the weapons in 2006 he went undefeated but lost the Super Bowl.

I love the Manning/Brady rivalry but there is no real way settle it.

Yes Brady has more rIngs but he had better defenses in his early years and has had the same coach the entire time.

Manning has the all the regular season records and MVPs plus a 3-1 record vs Brady in the AFC championship. Now he is going to his 4th Super Bowl with his 4th HC which is unprecedented.

They are both great and honestly it's sad to see it come to an end.

Or, played for Coach Belichick and the Patriots?

If this were the case Peyton wins every super bowl that Brady does, plus the ones Brady lost. And probably get to another two. Peyton once had a top 10 defense in Indy, and it was 8th. (I don't count 2011 because he was hurt.) He had more defenses ranked 28th or worse than in the top 15 in Indy, including his super bowl against the Saints when they had the 29th worst defense in the league.

Probably all of them

That might not be a joke. Only 4-5 years in there did they have a good (not great) defense. That being said, 2-3 years of those should have been theirs and they blew it. Especially the two "undefeated" reg season years.

Brady is 0-5 against the Manning brothers in Super bowls and AFC championships. That's as not clutch as you can get. And Peyton is 3-2 against Brady in the playoffs period now.

That was me...primarily because BB out-schemes his opponents. It's a team sport and, until this year, Peyton never played for a team with a dominant defense...and we see the results!

I'll give you the skill position weapons argument, but not by much. Gronk and Moss were better at their positions than anyone Peyton ever had. Welker (in his prime) and Edelman aren't shabby either.

The clincher for me was when the below-average Matt Cassel became the starter when Brady was placed on IR in the first game of the 2008 season. Cassel led the Patriots to 11 regular season wins, nearly 3,700 yards passing, and 21 TDs. This is the same Matt Cassel who NEVER started in college.

It is hard to explain how Cassel can play so well for the Patriots (nearly Brady-like stats), and never even approach that success any other time in his career. So, is it Tom Brady, or is it Belichick? Probably some of both, but Belichick is a huge part of the Pats success.
