How many SEC basketball wins do we need..

Even if we lose a few, Pearl will have the boys up and ready by the SEC Tourney to sweep. So lessons will be learned in any losses and we will get in on tournament wins.

I'd say we need 9 conference wins plus another one in the tournament. That would put us at 19 wins.

That was taking the Memphis game out of the equation. If we could somehow steal that one, we might even be able to get away with going 8-8 in conference and not have to worry about the tournament.

As big as wins over both TX AND Memphis would be, and as much as the press is talking up the SEC, especially the East (too much IMHP), I think you're right. As high as the press is on the conference, they'd probably just call an 8-8 record parity.

That said, I think all around a win over Florida would play out bigger than over UM, even if realistically the Tigers are the better team....

I still can't believe we're even talking about this. At the start of the season, I would have been elated with an NIT berth. I'd still like to see a couple more conference games before I really start thinking NCAA tournament.

It IS pretty cool- Long way to go, but however things work out we're doing more with less already, and I'm a pretty happy camper for what I assumed was a rebuilding year.......

CSpin, with Tennessee's depth, I don't see our team as being very successful in the SEC Tournament unless they end up getting a bye on Friday, You saw how tired they were on one day rest before playing Lipscomb, they were really tired and conversely had to slow down their style of basketball only scoring 69 points.

I agree with GAVol, 19 wins and you're in.

BEWARE FAITHFUL VOL FANS, after Georgia, there may be some tough times for this team, look at the schedule. Memphis, LSU, FLorida, Miss. State all in a row, if we come out 1-3 in that stretch, it would be good for this team.

I would have to agree on the 9 conference wins. I think we have a good chance at this point. Guess we'll have to see how the team responds after loosing a couple games later on in the season.

Georgia is better than Mississippi State. The Starkville version of the Bulldogs have their worst team in a long time.

I live really close to memphis, so the memphis game is very personal to me. I hate the tigers very much, it would be sooooooooo great if we could slide into town and steal a win from them. Most tiger fans were talkin alot of crap before the Texas game saying we beat a way over rated Texas team, now they are saying wow that Texas team is good. Not that im thinking ahead a few games I just really want to beat those bandwagon tiger fans.

8-8 in the conference and an assumed loss to Memphis puts us at 17-10 going into the SEC tournament, and at that point it would depend on "quality wins." Kentucky looks like they're going to kill the overall conference RPI unless they get it turned around in a hurry. 9-7 in the SEC (18-9 going in the tournament) should be pretty much a lock. But again, it's so early. I'm very excited and I love the way this team is playing, but there's so many games to be played yet, I don't want to even risk mentally jinxing it by thinking Big Dance just yet.

By the way, LIO, your girls were fabulous on Saturday. That was one hell of a game.
