How many of us are REALLY that disappointed?

Where are you right now, emotionally?

By the looks of it, some of you are typing from a lap top on the edge of a cliff. Some people, myself included, are happy with where we ended up on signing day. I'd rate the class a C+/B

I wasn't expecting us to finish in the top 20 though, and we did that. I'm happy with what the coaches were able to do on such short notice, and if you look at the interviews with the kids who de-committed from their previous favorites in the last 30 days to come here, they have nothing but great things to say about the coaches.

I swear, a lot of our fans are unappreciative. What Kiffin did in the last 2 months, and what the new coaches were able to do in the last few weeks really impresses me and has me excited for the years to come.

Heck, I'm happy with it. UT still has a shot at getting J. Jackson tomorrow morning. A 5* from LSU.

I was hoping for better, but I'll take where we finished with a smile.

I thought LK made a couple tactical mistakes. He also pulled a couple of surprises. Would have liked to addressed a couple of needs better.

Time to move on. Think the 2010 will be outstanding if staff stays intact through next NSD.

GO VOLS!!!

Considering the fact that Kiffin had what a month with his entire staff probably less than that, I am more than pleased with what he was able to do.

You have the likes of ksusha, vols5150, and posivol here every day to remind us how terrible the new staff is. And we will get guest appearances from backup punters who evidently "had a hand in scoring a lot of points".

I really wasn't expecting that much this year. I knew we would get some good players, but if you told me we would steal two recruits from Florida and then Myles from Atlanta, I would have told you, you were crazy. The only thing I thought we would get was MB, but i'm fine without him. I'm very impressed with the class we brought in and will bring in, in the coming years.

For starters - your Avatar being the most disgusting! Seriously, you have to add that picture to the next hate Bama thread that comes up -- priceless.

In all honesty, I harbored hopes that the current coaching staff would shock the football world by a fantastic harvest of blue chip athletes. It didn't happen. Am I disappointed? To some degree. Realistically, we fell a little further behind the hot programs in the SEC, and I can see that the job of digging us out of mediocrity will be a lot more challenging than I had hoped. But we didn't get into this position in a single season, nor will we work our way out in any short order.

I rest my immediate hopes on vast improvements in discipline, conditioning, game plans and on the field coaching. Our motto, at least for a while, will change from "doing less with more" to "doing more with less". Future recruiting will be problematic for a while until we have some sort of breakthrough on the field. Hopefully, and yes, optimistically, Lane and his staff will be the right answer. For a Vol fan to wallow in self-doubt and pessimism without even playing a single game is a fruitless exercise in defeatism. Hope springs eternal.

Getting those 2 superstar recruits from Florida was icing on the cake. It's a matter of time before Kiffin starts dominating the south in recruiting, and beating florida and georgia on a regular basis.

I would have liked to see a couple more OL get signed, but overall it looks like a solid class. Next year will be the year I expect to see the big haul. If the Kiffin hype is for real, 2010 will be a dominant class of recruits for us.

WUT??/// I WANT 5 STARS IN ALL POSITIONS IF NOT THEN KIFFIN CAN'T RECRUIT. I TOLD U GUYS LOLOLZ.

Considering all the variables involved we did well. I'm tired of all the complaints. It could have gone another way entirely and based on the way things ended I'm excited to see how the 2010 class shapes up.

lets see a month on the job, and only having a full staff for three weeks, i say kudos to kiff for not losing his mind in the hecticness

This has all the looks of a complete rebuild. What better way to get to the top then to hire the best staff you can and trust them to grab players who fit their system? Be ready for a little pain in the short term (ie, missing out a couple recruits this year) but the rewards will come :)

I was hoping we would finish better, but I know this did very well with the little time they had to recruit. I am looking forward to next season (on the field and recruiting) with more than a little eagerness.

Kiffin said in his press conference yesterday that they could've added more names to this year's signing class in order to pad the numbers and give them a higher ranking. However he said that doesn't do those kids any good to be recruited to come here and then ride the pine for 4 years. He is looking at quality over quantity and he and his staff only want to recruit the best.
