how many losses...

He's certainly not going out on a limb with that prediction.
true, but he is at least giving us some credit. i feel like all i ever read anymore is "it's going to be a very long season for the vols next year" or "lane kiffin is going to have a rude welcoming to the SEC." it's nice to see something not explicitly negative.. even if it's not glowing about tn.

I think, well at least it's my perception, that most of the national analysts aren't predicting UT to be all that bad this season. You'll find that it's mostly SEC rival homers that are predicting(clinging to the hopes) that UT will tank.

I think this staff is more than capable of pulling out 9 wins. As long as this team stays healthy and we don't lose anyone else.

I think obviously if we play good football we can beat anyone in the country, its just a matter of fighthing through what doesn't go your way and taking advantage of what does go your way, just like Neylands Maxims say...I think we could go 9-3, maybe 8-4...The two weeks in a row where we play UGA and Auburn, I think we will split those games and probably as much as I hate to say it lose to UF because I just think with everyone returning its just going to be too much for anyone to handle playing the Gators...I think the Bama game is a toss up and I think you could put the South Carolina game in there too but I like our chances in that game because its in Neyland....If things go right though we could possibly end up 10-2 if we beat UF

Man, no offense, but you guys are in for a surprise. And it's not going to be a good one.

5150. who do you see us losing too?
I think the only team we will probably lose to is Florida...They are just so stacked on both sides of the ball from top to bottom...I feel like we are pretty close to everyone else, but definitely a year or maybe even 2 behind UF, that don't mean we can't beat them but it will be tough, especially in the Swamp....I think UGA, Auburn, and playing Bama in the arm pit of America(Bryant Denny Stadium), those games will be toss ups because I don't think Bama and UGA are that far ahead of us and I think Auburn is about in the same boat as we are

that's pretty much my thinking as well. I think we'll lose Bama just because 43 of our players will pass out from the B.O.

LOL......Yeah I would say the B.O. down there on the field or just in that general area is horrible.....Like I said UGA, Bama, and Auburn I feel like are toss ups.....I think we will split between UGA and Auburn because I don't know that we will be able to beat two good teams like that back to back, but I hope I'm wrong, if I had my pick of the two to win it would be UGA obviously cuz their in our division....Bama if we can keep Julio Jones in tact and their defense off the field we will be fine....WIth Bama all you got to do is be around when the 2nd half starts because they come out sluggish, if you are within 7-10 points you got a shot in the 2nd half

Long time reader. First time poster.

If you guys seriously think that we have a shot at beating UGA and Bama, you've lost your minds.

Here are our problem areas for the next 2 seasons:
1. We don't know who the QB will be this season, and we may have a true freshman starting in 2010.

2. We don't have enough offensive linemen on campus to go more than 1-deep during a scrimmage. CPF left us desperately thin in numbers AND talent along the offensive line...and I find that very ironic.

We need about 3 solid recruiting classes until we can even begin competing for SEC Championships again.

I'll get flamed for this, but I believe 7 wins next season would be pretty good.

That will be key to our success against Bama. Hopefully the coaches will have our guys still running full steam ahead then.

We seriously have no chance of beating those guys this season.

Their team is getting better, because they got a few guys in this class who will probably play early. Our team basically stayed the same, because we didn't really bolster our offense at all. Seeing as how they have put 70 points on us the last 2 games - as compared to our 26 points against them - I don't see how anyone can reasonably assume the 2009 game will be much closer. Anyone who claims we have a legit shot at them is guilty of wishful thinking.
