How long to regain respect?

I was locked into argument with two alabama fans and a vandy fan today about whether Tennessee or Ole Miss was a better program. I was the only one who bought that UT was better.

That's not to say that Ole Miss isn't on the rise, because I think there may be some good days in store for that team. However, people need to realize that the state of a program involves more than just what happened last year. Even though we kind of backed into the SECCG in '07, that's still MUCH closer to a title Ole Miss has come in possibly decades. Someone who knows more than me, when was the last time Ole Miss finished second in the SEC? The last time they won it was 1963. Tennessee has 7 SEC Championships since then.

That would be like saying UT has a better basketball program than Indiana. At this point, we have more going for us but a couple of seasons don't make up for decades.

I know Ole Miss has never played in an SEC Championship Game. Before 2003, their last 10-win season was 1971.

That's a great assessment. You could substitute someone like KY as well.
