Right now we are considered in the 3rd tier of the SEC by many fans with the likes of Miss State, Kentucky, Vandy etc.

How long do you think it will take us to rise back to tier 1 with Alabama, Florida, Georgia?

As soon as we beat FL, AL, GA in the same year!...I say year 3 if Kiffin shows he is making improvements each year along the way. Hopefully it will be sooner than later!

When we take two out of those three. If players give what they need to, that'll be 2009. If not, he'll need another year.

We won the SEC East in 2007. MSU hasn't won their division in a very long time. UK and Vandy have never done that. We had a terrible year and people might have perceived the 2008 team to be on that level, but the program isn't down their with them.

You fall fastest and farthest when you fall from the top. Yes we were up there near the top last year, but this year we passed alot of those in the middle on our way down. Just my opinion on how the program is perceived right now.

South Carolina spanked us this past year, but we still aren't below them.

Over the next couple of years, when sportswriters are picking who they think will go to the SEC Championship, you are going to see most people pick Florida or UGA. Some people are still going to take UT. No one will consider the other 3.

In the eyes of everyone except UT fans, we are. Believe me. We are not very highly regarded as a program right now.

I'm sure Vanderbilt grads and the papers in Nashville would agree with you, but believe me, no one else does. Our 2007 season was better than any Vanderbilt or UK have had in over a generation. It was better than any in SC history.

Being highly regarded is not the same thing as being above SC, Kent or Vandy. Our program is down but it will take many more losses to be at their level.

No we're not. Does anyone look at Ole Miss as a first tier program after beating Florida? Does anyone slight Georgia as being a second tier after GT whupped them with their own branches from the hedges?

We will be respected as soon as we beat someone we're not supposed to beat and when we maintain focus and beatdown the teams we should beat.

UF lost 4 and finished 3rd in the east, just last year! Bama lost 5 and didn't win a game in the month of November (including ULM) on their way to Shreveport, just last year! And I won't waist brain cells debating respect vs a program that hasn't won a significant game in the history of Earth, USC Cocks!

We are a QB and 2 OL away, IMO...

Bama really had respect coming into this year..... They were ranked, uh, uh, oh yea, they weren't! On the other hand, UT apparently had more respect than Bama since we were ranked in the top 20....

I know what you are saying but I think you have taken it a little far. I travel a lot all over the nation and talk football. I would say that most still respect our program they just think we're having a bad run. But the respect is there.

I think it's insane to pretend that we are a 3rd tier team in the SEC...also a little delusional to think we are top tier right now. As I see it, UF, Bammer, and LSU are top tier (LSU will fall quickly once Les proves he can't win with his guys, but they are defending NC). Top of the 2nd tier is UGA followed by Aubie and UT. Ole Miss is quickly rising to the bottom of tier 2. In the lowest tier you have USCe, Arky, UK, Vandy and MS State. We got some momentum with new blood at the helm and hopefully a big recruiting class and the best defensive player in the nation for at least another year. Give us two years, and we can be top tier again.

Yeah, good point. When you are looking at a win over the 2008 Tennessee Volunteers as one of the bigger wins in program history, that's not a good thing.

I don't think anybody with any sense thinks of us that way. I think we are seen as a good program that had a bad year.

I post on many neutral NCAA boards and I assure you that the perception is that UT is no longer relevant and won't be.
