...lest we forget, dude is pretty old. How many years will he do this before he retires?

I was thinking somewhere around 4 years. The longer the better though. Is Coach O being groomed to take over?

haha...no way one year. He will pull a Paterno imo. If hes alive he will be coaching. 5 years at minimum. I would be more worried about losing Orgeron to a head coaching job within a a year or two.

I agree, I think Monte stays 4-5 years and we groom another D coordinator within our own coaching ranks.... Just my opinion....

The impression I get is that Monte is not enjoying being back in college ball, I will be shocked if its anything over 2 years.

Til we don't have Lane. Why else would he leave a Cushy job in Tampa for less money and more responsibility?

Maybe because he knew Gruden was going to be canned and didn't want to work for another coach in the NFL?
He was in the NFL for multiple seasons and saw multiple coaching changes. I don't think one more newbie HC would scare him . Besides who in their right mind would try to change what this guy has done year in and year out.

have you seem this guys energy. supposed to lay low for a couple of weeks after back sugery and is on his feet days later. This guy will be on his deathbed, in the hospital, coughing up dust balls and who knows what else, and will STILL be calling in plays.

Can't Wait for the success to start piling up.

What about recruiting. If recruits start to hear the Monte is going to retire in a year or two, it will hurt big time becuase you will lose that "come play for an NFL great" argument. Plus many of the D staff said they came to UT to coach with Monte. When he hangs it up could most of the D staff leave as well?

Call me crazy, but I could see him staying 5 years or even a little longer. He may be 68, but he's as energetic as many guys half his age. JMO

Huh?

He is living with his family, and coaching with his son. At his age, Im sure he is happy. He is getting the best of both worlds, listed above.
