How In The World Did We Lose To Cal?

Cal didn't just beat us. They beat us down, and they're a pitiful PAC-10 team. Where are Droski and Teddy?

Air Force runs all over everyone, that's no question. Also, the Cal Defense wasn't our concern in that game...we really had our way with them.

Get a fumble returned for a TD and allow a punt return for a TD like we did against Cal and you aren't going to beat anybody.

I'm sorry GAVol, but I would be willing to bet that if Florida was down 14-0 in the first quarter against Cal because of a fumble return and a punt return, they would come back and wipe the field with Cal. As a matter of fact, I believe that there are several teams in the SEC that could come back from a 2 touchdown deficit to Cal and whip them. With Fulmer at the wheel, we have never been able to outcoach anyone. If the other team has near the athletes that we do and a good coaching staff, they usually beat us. I remember in the Alabama game when they onside kicked the opening kickoff I was thinking to myself, " There is no way Fulmer will be able to recover from this." We have one of the most stubborn and conservative coaches in the world who refuses to change and get the most out of his players except for those players who are so talented that Fulmer can't even keep them down ( Eric Berry). Have you ever noticed that the players that come to UT are no better their senior year than they were as freshmen. I honestly can't believe that he is still our coach. We are the only SEC team that will put up with this nonsense. Heck, Alabama won't let a coach pull them down into mediocrity. At least they keep looking to hit a homerun. Not us, we are just fine with 8 or 9 win seasons around here.

We weren't down 14-0.

I didn't say that we were down 14-0. The point was that just because you give up a punt return and a fumble return for a td, you don't automatically lose. If your team is better coached with better athletes, you should still be able to come back and win. Kentucky didn't have a problem with coming back on us. South Carolina didn't have a problem with coming back on us. I should have worded the post different but i never said that we were down 14-0.
